Isn't it about time we had a different kind of multiplayer that inexplicably is a mainline FF game? I vote for an extraction based battle royale PvPvE open world survival crafting game.

Something like Spirits Within where a meteor fell and there was no heros to save the world and its mostly ruins and you are part of an expedition going out to colonise the world and you find out humanity is no longer alone as beast tribes now dot the land and ancient magics are being revived.

Post-FF7 world where all humans are dead. Chocobo/animal sim.

FF15-like setting with multiple races to choose from and modern day wear. Mainly this would be perfect establishment for Second Life degenerates can fuck off while FF14 can be it's own thing instead trying force many different modern aesthetics into the mix.

Like,a real prediction? its probably gonna be something like FFVIIR but more turn based oriented, a little slower and focused on party managment.
Why? because FFVIIR is already the best combat system in the franchise, but SE has seen time to time that people still are fond to turn based, so they will make something different than FFVIIR to keep the identity of the trilogy, but also not just go back to turn based for no reason.

^ This. They won't risk a financial and/or reputation flop again, given how many resources you have to sink into the genre. It's tragic, because they could still make a good MMO, but another unseen risk is that developers now are more likely than not to be either full blown woke zoomer trannies, or stealth ones who poison anything they're involved in.

this has always been the peak. So long as it doesn't go yiik-tier slow patterns or whatever. Unironically base it on mario & luigi. Snappy and impressive animations like normal with ways to increase damage by hitting the appropriate keys. Bonus, the devs can trivialize it to make it always do perfect or near-perfect damage so people can still play one-handed, brainless, or handicapped.

The Zodiac Age job + gambit system should have been the blueprint for every mainline FF game since instead of the watered down dogshit action games that were 15 and 16.

17 shouldn't be an MMO, it should be a return to its roots 3-5 niggas in a row JRPG
BUT they should also do a spinoff or something as a co-op open world action RPG with an ff1-style story (including blank slate self-insert characters, ideally customisable), job system with radically different jobs (not just different colours of "do damage/tank/heal"), and maybe some preset AI party members for offlinechads. No MMO, just small scale co-op play.
