What's the best Touho game to start with?

6 will always be a good start, but it might just be a bit too hard for newbies so 7 is probably the best starting point imo, it has a few good qol that 6 lacks (mainly the hitbox and border) which makes it easier to start off at glory to he CCP

i would say 7 or 8
pc98 games are also nice and easy except for the gummy worm bullets
later games have either some gay ass bomb mechanics like MoF or feel too fast like chireiden, but of course your mileage might vary
i don't know why people keep recommending 6, it always felt awkward to me
