Goddamn this Legend of Kay shit is fucking ass. Man what the fuck all these zelda likes just cannot fucking help but waste your time with meandering inbetween quests which are like a tiny piece of the buy of the rest of the gameplay but somehow given the same amount of time and weight. Im still stun in the town doing errands for dumbfuck randos, and theres a cutscene (textbox) like every other minute. Holy fuck I'm starting to think Zelda is just fundamentally ass, because it cannot be a coincidence how essential this time wasting bullshit is not ONLY to zelda, but fucking zeldalikes and clones.
Almost makes me sympathetic to breath of the wild, they just said "fuck it, our games are already directionless meandering messes where youre largely looking for some arbitrary item to collect or place to go along the way to your real quest, how about we just put more effort and focus into making inherently moving around or interacting with objects interesting". I think the open world zeldas went in the wrong direction, but from that perspective I can almost understand and sympathize. Despite my hate for open worlds, and my preference for classic zelda. TotK is still to this day the zelda ive enjoyed the most. With BotW, and OoT/MM/TP at the bottom

Why is a star that doesn't do anything on its own a worthy reward in your eyes when something that gives you a powerup, albeit slight, not worthy? Enjoy the adventure on the island faggot, the spirit orb is objectively a bigger reward than a mario star.

Stamina allowed you to access more areas, by climbing, gliding, or swimming, and let you use charge attacks more freely.
Also you could opt for more health.
By comparison, a star was just a glorified key.

The quests are fun because they're structured challenges, that force you to think in particular ways, and pass through barriers of execution.
If none of that does anything for you, and all you want is the prize at the end, you have fully failed to understand what video games are. You may as well just download a completed save, and cross the game off your list.

The game should dispense a gold trophy and five million dollars in cash and the President of Nintendo should come to my house to shake my hand.
Why does life never live up to my intentionally impossible expectations? It can't me by fault. It's everyone else's fault for not trying harder to satisfy someone who refuses to ever be satisfied. I NEED to see people jumping through hoops in futile efforts to meet an impossible goal. It makes me feel very powerful and important.
And that's all I really want. To be powerful and important, so my screaming black hole ego will never go hungry again.

A big problem with modern Zelda is the safe atmosphere and the lack of dynamic set pieces, rewards, characters and quests.
BoTW stops feeling like a living world after 30 hours or so, because the content and gameplay loop becomes too predictable, safe and repetitive for its own good. All shrines look the same and offer the same types of rewards. You will encounter and fight the same basic groups of bokoblins, moblins and lizalfos, regardless of your location in the world. The sorry excuse of dungeons all revolve around the same core mechanic (turn on all of the terminals in a giant mech,) all of the NPC quest-givers and their quests are obnoxiously goofy & silly, and generally give poor rewards outside of the occasional armor piece or armor set. Outside of the champion abilities, you never really unlock any game-changing inventory items that offer a permanent, meaningful affect on how players can interact with that world. All of the interesting and crucial mainline story events are tied to past events the player never participated in, hidden behind optional cutscenes.
Nintendo is so focused on the pure gameplay aspects that they've forgotten the reality that dynamic storytelling, atmosphere, rewards, experiences and storytelling actually matter in 2025, and that's what truly sells a great modern-day adventure game these days. There's a clear underlying reason why modern-day Ubisoft is one verge of bankruptcy, and Nintendo in typical delayed Nintendo fashion, is in their Ubisoft era of shallow open world trend-chasing.

What if you got schematics for more durable weapons you could give to a blacksmith who could then create the weapon for you? Maybe associate stats with different schematics and let the player mix and match, and make a weapon they like to use?
Something like that I don't know.
