I'm more partial to double-barrel designs, so long as their reload animations are suitable detailed. The sheer power and range compared to magazine-fed designs, balanced out by the need to really pick your shots... they are the thinking man's guns. The 1900 in BF1 and the M30 Drilling in BFV are both wonderful.

Battlefield games still have the most fun type of shotgun play in my experience. Different ammo types, chokes, grips, scopes. Usually feature multiple pump action, semi and automatic ones with each their own stats.
You actually have to think to close the distance if your not a cqc map only faggot.
For me it always had a fun benefit that most shotguns can just fire when your reloading.
Not a fan of explosive ammo tho cause thats just a cope of wanting to play with a grenade launcher instead.
