play turtle WoW. huge, friendly community with a fresh realm starting up august 17th, totally free because it's a private server. there is a paid cosmetic shop to keep the server alive but no pay2win elements outside of a personal vendor and banker you can pay for. it's vanilla+ so they have ironed out a lot of the wrinkles of true vanilla, plus the new content fits in seemlessly with the original stuff. i have four 60s on there, highly recommended. faggots on here will tell you it's tranny infested but i have never interacted with a tranny once

The secondary server was pvp, it was destined to die.

The good thing about turtle is they release new content but it's usually a leveling zone or expanding a dungeon so there's always people leveling and dungeoning. Healthiest I've ever seen wow in years.

The new PVE server is going to have the Min max autistics that wanted epoch so I'd recommend against it. The main server has so many raid pug runs so you don't even need a guild (the next patch this weekend is expanding molten core so everyone will be doing it).

They added follower dungeons. The game pairs you up with 4 other bots to complete the 5-man. You can choose your role and even let them take the lead.

For raids, there's something similar but I don't think it's the entire raid you get to do. Raid bosses are part of the story so they've added a feature where you face the final boss with a bot raid to complete storyline.

This is all modern WoW, this feature is nit present in Classic.

yeah, i mean, they did fine for the low maintenance and cost but like I said you get a ton of people the first few weeks, they realize it's actually not very good content by modern standards, and they all bounce off. Private servers have the same issue. I have multiple friend groups that will rally to a private server, last a week, then leave.

OP here - I took the advice ITT and I am trying Turtlewow on an RP (pve) server.

I find the dorf biome comfiest, so I'm going to play a cool gun-wielding dwarf guy. Gonna stick on a lore video and get questing I guess. Whether I like it or not, better to try than sit and whine in a thread forever I guess

It baffles me that they never made a survival mode where you just progress through the world.

M+ keys is like a torture simulator if you pug. I was able to actually do a single key with no loot after probably about several hours of failed runs with people always fucking leaving.
I get wanting to have the game be hard but fucking hell it comes to a point where it just becomes a hellish experience that makes people not want to play.

We don't really know since they are pretty bad at communication at this point. They tried relaunching on Friday and took it down after issues with custom content instead of server load that time, and now they are taking a break for the weekend. Best case they decide to take some time to properly fix and test, worse case they just give up from all the pressure. It could really go either way at this point.

Addons will expedite this process and show you where to go on the map otherwise I am sure you can find yourself easily immersed. There are emotes too like /wave and /greet if you want to interact with passing strangers. There's a global chat but I believe you need to be level 10 or 15 first before having chat privileges.
