Yeah, it's "just a visual revamp" off of four games that had expansive stories and characters with more than a shred of personality. It hardens back to the NES era, when you picked characters because you thought they looked cool even if they had terrible growths (Macellan), and that's a regression from the previously localized games, and the gaiden chapter requirements won't be defended by anyone. Is it bad? No, it's very basic in most areas and you can just jump in and play, which i think makes it a great starting point for the series, but they could have done some more to bring it in line with more modern titles.

Other way around: it means that if a character starts with a bad moveset, you can move them to a good one because you want that CHARACTER in your roster.
If you play Warriors 1, Corrin as an antithetical moveset to a musou. Her attacks move her backwards. So if you want her to be good, you're fucked. You have to drop her. But in Hopes, if you like someone like Petra but don't like the Assassin moveset, you can move her to Swordmaster or Dancer.

You can list a lot of things about Fjorm to describe her, but the issue people don't consider a good natured person a "character", or the traits as having a personality. Without some sort of figurative edge, most people tend to gloss over a character. This goes for a lot of characters in any media, and even some lords in FE.
Then again, many consider a character having a hobby as a personality trait, so the idea is just warped to so many people.

Finally finished it.
Overall it was a pleasant game.
I have not played the original so the avatar was good for me. Marth is apparently a little more whimpy here but I think thats a good thing.
He stands out more. Feel like most Lords tend to be "my friends are my strength" but it doesn't fit them well.

Yeah, it’s an ironman. I’ve already had Gordin die to a 3% crit and Cain got doubled on a forest tile, which I didn’t even think was possible... Prologue deaths don’t count though, right?
