Now there's way too many Western CS graduates and 5 billion Indians who will take $5 per hour gladly for the same jobs. Because its not that easy. Asynchronous programming is a lot harder than synchronous which is all of web dev (UI in general actually). You also have to worry about different screen sizes, browsers, handling failures when sending web requests, keeping the dom in sync with the js model without just brute forcing it, etc. They have frameworks like React/Angular to help with these problems but each has a high learning curve to not make something perform badly, just like game engines do.

Can confirm night shifts are terrible. I'm a nurse (posted just before) and a string of nights make me miserable and irritable like nothing else. Plus, you're typically left with a skeleton crew and a lot of the staff who do nights more than days do so because they are lazy or not very skilled so you have to carry them during the shifts also. I am lucky and can sleep okay during the day time, but I absolutely loathe the feeling of lying in bed during the day and not being able to sleep just thinking about work later that day/evening. I don't have the exact data, but I read somewhere it can take a decade off your life if you do nights consistently.

I'm a home delivery driver for a supermarket in a rural area. I drive about to maybe 8 houses a day to do deliveries that take maybe 5 minutes on average to complete. Then I usually have half an hour to an hour's gap between some deliveries because I have to wait for the next customers time slot. You need to be full stack, meaning web dev, server, and database, as well as how to do cloud deployments, to stand out. In general though its a little late to be getting into development because of all the competition like I said before. There's a glut of software devs due to the L2Code movement and a lot were just laid off and looking for new work, so you'll be competing with tons of people that already have experience. Before COVID hit, I worked a year in a hospital as a transport nurse while I was applying for IT jobs. Basically you bring patients who are in a wheelchair or bed from their room to wherever they need to be in the hospital. it was often a pretty stressful job and you need to be capable of small talk + think on the fly to come up with the most time saving routes. Not for everybody, but you rack up steps and won't be bored.
