I've seen worse but something I've noticed about so many games is the devs ne er make it look clean and fluid, even the better done things are just choppy and off. There are some companies that don't (typically) run into that in their major releases like rockstar games (towards the beginning of those releases, RDR2 had fuckiness after I updated it). I wish I could think of examples because it's something I've seen enough to mentally take not of it but I can't really describe it or give substance without knowing it.

Who thought that making a mafia game in Italy is a good idea anyways? They do realize that all the famous mafiosos weren't actually italian, they just had italian ancestry, right? By the time the mafia was big they were second or third generation immigrants in America, most of them have never been to Italy in their life.

Mafia 3 is a better movie than a game. Which is a shame because I really liked a lot of the characters in that game. Donovan, Father James, Burke and Vito. Even the villains like Sal and Giorgi were fun characters and every one of those actors performed their hearts out for it. It's a real shame they were all stuck in that game.

Vito was really lame, especially when considering his mafia 2 performance. It felt like they just HAD to include him because otherwise you couldn't even call this game a mafia game. Vito's ending is the defacto best though. Burke is actually nice. Retarded ending for him. Oh and his daughter is gay, fucking yawn.

Unironically Lincoln is an ok character. Not the best but atleast his motives are clear and concise from the start.

mafia 3 is an okay linear 5 hour game trapped in the body of a terrible open world 50 hour game
for every somewhat decent main mission there is hours of freeroam ubisoft busywork to unlock it, one of the most baffling game structures I've ever seen

Turn off the yellow "tell me where to go" thing in the options, turn on simulation driving, and turn on manual transmission.
Trust me, the game is so much better once you do that.

I was very skeptical of him, but I'll admit he grew on me and I do really like his character. He's straight forward with his story. Not much of an arc to speak of but that's fine, I think he serves as a foil to let the other major characters do their thing and it works.
I agree with Vito, honestly they could've changed his name and made him a generic goon who fucked up and moved down south and I don't think his character would've been appreciably different. Like you say they name dropped him purely for brand recognition.

I know someone who worked on this game and Taketwo is retarded. This one is being led by Czech studio and they got ultimatum - they will make the game on same budget as remake of first game or project wont get greenlit so they designed game to be 10 hour linear old school action adventure title. Theres going to be Borderlands 4 DLC post launch that apparently has higher budget than this entire game had btw lmfao.

It's just a plain and simple revenge plot. Sign of the Times DLC actually goes a bit more in-depth of his and father james' character. The DLCs are better than most mainline missions, because they're storydriven linear missions. Which are pretty much what you'd expect in a game like this. Now whatever ubisoft choreathon it ended up being.

The problem with Mafia is that the story carried the first game. It was good because at the time good story focused, fully dialogued games were rare. Nowadays they can't clearly keep up with the gameplay so the game falls short, because no matter how hard they try, story alone is not good enough in a game.
