I always take metaphor as an example. If you go on youtube people claim 60 to 80fps, but the main town struggles to keep above 23fps. Walk a bit before the first dungeon at 40fps, stand at the entrance at 24fps and then some bits of the dungeon run at 60.

Its a terrible experience and modern games set to the lowest of low settings with fucking fsr on top make games look much much worse then any random switch game.
The ally x is 20% faster, which sounds cool, but you're looking at 4extra fps in hard to run games, which still leaves it at well below 30fps.

You could get a z1e on sale or used for maybe 300 bucks or so and as an indie/old game device its pretty good.
But 1k for the privilige? Look how many people proclaim they cant afford a 450,- switch 2.

If it was guaranteed not to break unless you were a complete idiot with it, I think it'd be a good buy, if it was half the price. The biggest problem I have is that I know it will stop working one day like anything, but in this case much faster. The thing is going to die from overheating over time, I just know it. Their extremely involved air cooling system demonstration gave me a clue.
Meanwhile Nintendo is happy to run underpowered, and thus cooler systems, so I'd wager that my Switch 1 will continue to work for a while if I'm careful.

I'm thinking about getting a new handheld. I already have both Switches, but I don't want to pay eShop prices for 3rd party games. And I also want to emulate. Would the Legion Go be the best option? I'm tempted to get that but I hear that the new one is just around the corner. I also don't need the absolute best performance, since I already have a PC and PS5. I also don't want to just hack the Switch, since it's pretty weak.

I don't have £800 to spend on something that I will only use every now and again for long trips or holidays (which I'll not be able to afford because I spent £800 on "in-flight entertainment")

I have a strong gaming PC, so if push comes to shove then I'd rather just figure out how to stream games I own from my PC to play them on my phone, instead of spending 30% of a months wage on something I will barely use
