Oldschool trannies tend to talk about an emasculating element. A sort of "failure to be a man". Which is why there's such a trope of 40 year old men trooning out and becoming nasty old whores.
Younger trannies almost always talk about it in a social way. They say things like, "I read x and y online and realized that I was trans". Or, "I talked to my friend and they told me I was trans". It basically takes a village to turn a kid without any hope into a freak of nature.

The reason people sort of characterize mtf trannies as porn addicts is because of some actual data, I think. But more than data, if you look into it, trans shit is more or less acted on as a sort of sexual power fantasy. It's not just that you're a girl. You're a girl, so you must be sexy. You must be cute. So everyone else needs to acknowledge this too. So some of the biggest trans names are out there talking about how sexy and desirable they are. You kind of get the feeling, as a man lilts his voice to tell you how everyone wants to fuck his asshole, that it's a fetish.
