As a consoelfag who finally got an acceptable PC last year, I'm ignorant really to what I may have missed out on over the years. Steam is kinda dogshit for showing me things, tending to only display the newest AAA stuff when scrolling a discovery queue or looking at the store frontpage. I also can't search for what I don't know about. So, what are your favorite games consolefags may not have known about?

Pic related is a hit and miss in places (Deadly Premonition and EYE, while soulful, are jank as fuck) but it does showcase gems like XCOM, Jagged Alliance, System Shock, VTMB and IHNMAIMS.
I heavily recommend Zachtronics and Factorio if you have even slight autism, this shit is like crack.
For H-games, most of them are not really worth playing, but there are a few gems:
>Sengoku Rance
>Kamidori
>MGQ: Paradox
>Black Souls
>Baldr Sky (especially recommended if you're a character action fan, the combos you can pull off in this game are fantastic)

Try to name your favourite genres and we'll try to narrow it down for you.

Congrats on joining the upgrade treadwheel. Where instead of spending $500 for a console that needs 0 maintenance, you can now buy $1000 graphics cards every 5 years.
Time for a new pc? Guess you'll be buying everything over because of socket/ram changes.

>what I may have missed out on over the years
you paid more for games that ran and looked worse
you paid to use your own internet
and you didn't get to mod your games.

Nah that's exaggerating. In reality if you spend your money wisely on quality hardware you can withstand a few more years than 5 with a couple hundred bucks to spend each time. That's only for graphics cards. CPUs, RAM, disk drives, power supplies, etc, can be upgraded even less frequently.

You can play all the strategy games, management sims, some hidden gems and old schools that consolefags have never dreamed of. And if you can play some old schools on console (if you still own the console), you can play them on PC and mod the fuck out of them to absolute heavenly pleasure.
I'm thinking of New Vegas which is a 9/10 on a good vanilla day, becomes an actual groundbreaking 10/10 with the right modlist installed.

Play the Civilization games.
Play the Company of Heroes series.
A favourite of mine is Graveyard Keeper.
Play Crusader Kings 2 (or 3 if you're a brainlet).
Play Schedule 1, dude.
Play Rimworld.

And why don't you go look on Reddit, which keeps lists of PC exclusives more easily available on Google.

Also >>717821958 reminds me that you shouldn't always buy your games from Steam because of crossplay compatibility. Some games are more compatible with crossplay between consoles if you buy them from the PC Xbox/Microsoft store. Maybe Playstation has that system too.
I'm thinking of Deep Rock Galactic that doesn't have crossplay enabled on Steam but has it on console, but you can play the game on your PC if you have it bought from the Microsoft store.

I'd take most recommendations with a pinch of salt as they will inevitably be seen through a nostalgic lens. I went through a binge of buying the CLASSICS on GoG back in 2013 and honestly found a lot of them kinda disappointing.

With that being said (and now that the thread won't 404 while I'm typing), here are some of the older games I can easily recommend;

>Civilization IV: One of the best TBS games of all time, with a gentle enough learning curve and a great modding community.

>Command and Conquer - The Ultimate Collection: This package comes with a lot of the best RTS games and honestly they are (almost) all worth playing. The first C&C and the first Red Alert are fairly dated but are an alright starting point, everything else EXCEPT C&C 4 is great. I'd personally start with Red Alert 2 as it's easy to pick up and arguably the best. You'll need to do a bit of tweaking (set the game speed low and type HIRES on the menu to access modern resolutions) but once you do that you're golden

>Simcity 3000 / Simcity 4: Both great city builders, the scenarios provide a decent challenge but the real fun is just messing around and building a city.

>Unreal Tournament Gold: A rock solid FPS that has held up pretty well, with decent bots and a fairly lengthy campaign culminating in a challenging final boss. It's mainly a multiplayer game (and great for LAN parties etc) but honestly the single player mode is still plenty of fun

>Metal Slug 1/2/3: Admittedly these have been ported to fucking everything (and you can just set up an emulator) but these are all great 2D run and gun games. They're pretty cheap if you choose to buy them. X is just a tweaked version of 2 btw.

>Uplink: The best hacking game to ever come out, it's basically a roguelike simulation of what hacking looks like in movies. It has a great style and is surprisingly immersive, that manages to offer a dynamic gameplay experience with unique mechanics. It can be hard but the challenge is basically to stay alive after you reach a certain point.

If you want to find classic games just check the GoG best sellers list during their sales. Or check the /v/ wiki (https://vsrecommendedgames.miraheze.org/wiki/PC)
