>Hated BN1
>Wonder if BN fans are like Sonic fans in calling bad games "pretty good" but decide to give BN2 a try anyway
>The internet design is actually coherent and fun to explore
>Encounter Rate isn't 95% like the first game, I can actually explore the dungeons and be interrupted every other step
>A dedicated Escape button (that seems to never work but I can appreciate having one)
>Subchips that can do things like lower the encounter rate too or heal
>Can choose your favorite chip to always show up in battle
>Can have multiple folders of chips
>New chip styles that add to the gameplay
>Health actually stays down after battles which means I have to use actual strategy instead of braindead mashing each non boss battle in BN1
>It's actually fucking FUN
Holy shit I can't remember the last time I played a sequel that had such an insane quality jump from the previous entry.
Forgive me Battle Network fans, I mocked you but you were right. This shit IS good!

It makes a lot more sense when you realize Battle Network 1 was a very obvious proof of concept. Battle Network 2 only came out like six months after the first, and definitely improved upon it's foundation in every way. BN3 is also pretty solid. BN4 is a lot worse, and BN5 tries to shake things up in some interesting ways. BN6 is considered as good as BN2/3.

5 also released 6~ months after 4. The majority of 4's dev time went into making the new engine that the last 3 games use which is part of the reason its such a shit show.

We've had at least two people who have recently started BN1 runs and were a couple hours into them before they posted and also refused to hop to OSS.

Never cared about Battle Network before, mostly due to not having enough time to dedicate to an ROG. finally decided to give it a chance and it's pretty good and by pretty good I mean BN2 because I can't stand BN1

My first was BN2. Got it on cartridge. Dunno why I skipped the first game. Just random whims I guess. I tried going back to 1 when I got a GBA emulator running. But it was so bad, I dropped it part way through. It's impossible to go back. 2 was just better in every way.
