This doesn't really work, Steve had the potential to completely shut Banjo out of the race, Alear being is is just par for the course and the only characters potentially blocked out are other Fire Emblem characters, meaning your made up LGBT rage bait won't work because the only people who care will already know who the character is.
It needs to be a potential rival to a never ever, and it has to be realistic and popular in its own right, so Mallow won't work either.
