It's probably actually true that it's not the number 1 priority in matchmaking. It's easy to say this when basic things like connection and region are probably checked first. Not to mention the thing you should actually be worried about, engagement based matchmaking and matchmaking designed to maximize spending microtranactions.

> In a 25-page report released last week, the publisher revealed that it conducted a secret experiment inside Modern Warfare 3 earlier this year, reducing the effects of SBMM for players in order to study the impact it had on the experience. The changes to SBMM were gradual and monitored, with the final verdict being that, despite many complaints about the system, many seemed to dislike its removal, resulting in "more quitting, less playing, and more negative blowouts".

Every war has retards running in head first.

I am that retard in battlefield. You can't stop me from running in, blowing up all the walls in the building being used for cover and getting sniped before switching back to my assault rifle to get and shoot suppressive fire.

THE PROGRAMMING ALONE WOULD BANKRUPT EA, NOT TO MENTION RAPE THEIR FAMILIES.

> During the test, the top 10% of players in terms of skill seemed to return to the game more frequently than before, while the remaining 90% played fewer games.

> Activision also stated that it carried out another test where it tightened SBMM limits, which resulted in the opposite outcome, with high-skill players leaving more frequently and lower-skill players staying longer.

The differences are there and prove that SBMM is good. People want to play longer, except the top 10% who complain they can't dunk on shitters. But fuck 'em.

Yeah when you make up a story to support your opinion, sure. Except previous Battlefield games that didn't have SBMM were still enjoyed by everyone, both noobs and goods. Having large scale battles of 64 players means there's bound to be a mix of noobs and experts.

Also we used to have servers/lobbies labeled "noobs only". Or some equivalent of "only players bellow a certain level allowed" servers. Worked fine.

I can't name you a single community-server-based multiplayer shooter where this wasn't the case for me. I have no idea why people keep falling for the matchmaking meme. If anything, people who play games with matchmaking are the most miserable out of everyone.

I want SBMM but instead of skill it's based on playing your role, objectives and general teamplay
it would push all the deathmatch fags into separate lobbies from the people who play the game as a team in an attempt to win the match
it would be pretty easy to track too through simple game stats like objective time, role ribbons earned and for teamplay normal revives and sticking with your squad etc.

>SBMM is good because it lets everyone enjoy it to some degree instead of shitting on a majority of your playerbase
SBMM is just there to make sure you have a 50% winrate, so when you win for a while, inevitably you will be placed in teams with people who can't type on a keyboard without looking at it, and then you start losing until the system decided you can win again.
Do less good players get stomped by better players? yes, and if you get good at the game, you can be one of those better players, so that means the game rewards time investment instead of rewarding people who don't get good at it by placing them in teams with better players, offering them the illusion that they're getting better.

Having servers is the best option though, because you can join a community instead of being a little globohomo bug eating shit who gets put in a pen against other globohomo bug eaters with SBMM.

"SBMM" is a psyop. A proper skill based matchmaker is supposed to do one thing, and one thing only: match people according to their publicly visible MMR to minimize MMR disparity in the lobby, that's it.
It's not supposed to evaluate player performance based on hidden metrics, and use that evaluation to rig matches and maintain 50% predicted win rate for all the players.
Any MOBA player can tell you the matches start getting harder when you're on a win streak. All "skill based" matchmakers in modern games are just EOMM in disguise, and I won't play any of that shit
