I just finished my 3rd run on dogmatic and now I can tell that... Iconoclast>Heretic>Dogmatic
Second dlc is worse than first one in every aspect, but I guess the cause is main story line which was simply meh, seriously this dlc was personification of mediocracy... but I can't wait for next two dlcs which have far better ideas to work with.

Same. I've already played the game three times. Twice on launch, and once for Kibellah's dlc. So my fourth one, which will likely be my last, I won't do until all the dlc's are out.
Also, it was a nigger dlc this time, so I didn't care about it.

1. I am horribly disappointed in the options for how your RT looks. Yeah, you can import a profile pic, but the options for your model, or lack of, is severe.

2. Are they just gonna keep bringing up shit from my origin decisions like every other sentence, or is this just an intro thing?

that's what makes those games so much fun, there are tons of overpowered munchkin builds to play and roleplay without gimping yourself
the chaff choices are just there because they are there in the pen and paper as well so blame tabletop nerds for the bloat and traps

Yeah, it's the illusion of choice at its finest. "Play your way" just means "enjoy underperforming because you didn't follow the forums' DPS spreadsheet." At this point I just mod in shit for fun and roll whatever jank build sounds cool, meta be damned. If I wanted optimal, I'd be playing spreadsheets in EVE.

Spread your party so Aurora doesn't burst them all to death on the first turn, in fact there is a way to position your party so that you bait him into going melee instead of bursting. Have Abelard tank Aurora, and try to kill the ads quickly so you build up enough momentum to use a Heroic Act on Aurora, be mindful of the sniper and try not to leave yourself exposed. If you have the DLC, Kibellah can one shot Aurora with her Heroic Act or Desperate Measure, and don't be afraid to use the latter because the penalty is just that it gives you a trauma, which is not that bad at all.

Chapter 1 is literally the only time where difficulty exists, and even that is nonsense at times. Whether or not you hit level 15 before the big boss makes all the difference in the world, and they've made that far easier to achieve now than it was at launch.

When playing RPGs and when given the opportunity I usually like to have high enough charisma or whatever to ensure that I can get good.dialogue options and/or access to choices that would otherwise be locked by a more pure damage dealer.

I figured that lore played a similar role here so I tried to get my character to have as much lore as possible (across three aspects), and high int(?) too. Iirc i was an operator, and a noble? This seemed to push me in the directions of guns (sniper rifles?) for combat so I put points on that as I leveled up.

However, it seemed that I was getting weaker not stronger as time went by and small fights were increasingly difficult.

Feel like I must be something rather blatant but am out of my depth here. Like DAO, Witcher, BG3 etc. New to owlcat and find leveling tedious and confusing.

Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers

Supposedly there is a big balance patch coming, but I'm skeptical. There is not a single thing that I could point out to be absolutely broken, except Blade Dancer into Executioner, but rather the whole system, i.e. character progression, the momentum system and itemization is completely fucked. Even if you don't pick the meta builds you'll reach a point where difficulty is non-existant. I tried to stop using Heroic Acts by the end of chapter 3 entirely and it didn't make combat harder, just take longer. The whole thing is a mess. They should hire autists from here to consult for them, because they seem awfully incompetent when it comes to playtesting the most broken builds.

is blade dancer really that busted? i started a new run to try the dlc but death from above doesn't actually one shot the enemies that matter so you eventually run out of mooks to keep the charges. i think arch militant argenta or navigator cassia or sanctioned psyker soldier pyro is still better most of the time, but i'm only on act 2 so far

Blade Dancer by itself is pretty strong, but not OP, unless you play as a Death World Psyker. Kibellah is top tier when you get her in chapter 1, Blood Oath gives you 3 MP every time you use it if you have the Blood Rush talent, meaning that you can run from enemy to enemy and kill everything on screen. The fact that Death From Above doesn't one shot enemies is actually a blessing in desguise, because killing enemies with it doesn't restore charges, if you then kill a group of enemies who have been weakened by Death From Above with Blade Dance you suddenly get a bunch of charges of Death From Above, giving you even more mobility.

The problems with Blade Dancer arise when you get to Executioner, because you can use your ton of attacks per round to stack DoTs sky high, scale Wounds off of Medicae, and apply debuffs on enemies based on the types of DoTs they have. So you have a class combo with high mobility, high damage, high HP, high Dodge and debuffs.

when you're creating a character be sure to look at what stats (and perks) you're getting from your origin and what your chosen archetype actually needs.
noble gets you a bunch of fellowship-related bonuses, but operator is a perception/intelligence archetype and guns are governed by ballistics skill, meaning that you're probably spreading your character a bit thin.

basically when you pick an archetype scroll down and check which characteristics(stats) have a green thumbs up on them and focus on those and whichever kind of weaponry they govern.

Everything is busted at this point, some items are just too good, like these boots which give you free use of charge everytime you kill something, pascal can evaporate everything with plasma gun, why pyro build when you can make a psyker who can use aoe cassia skil 5 times instead of 2, even that solomorne guy can delete things with shotgun and if it survives no worries you've like 3 more strikes with doggo
