>Series has over 15+ games
>everybody only talks about like 4
what even happens in this fucking series? are most really barely related outside of the name?
Majority are standalone outside of a few having direct sequels and prequels or easter eggs to other games. Also there are fans of all games with least amount of fans for FF2
there are over 100 final fantasy games
>>717954258I really like VI, X, and XV!
>>717954192Also good joke using US FF2(4) box art.
im the one person who likes durge of cerberus because i was like 9 when i played it on PS2 in 2009
>>717954007 (OP)I think the reality is everyone's first FF ends up being their favorite.
And depending on what made it your favorite, you might not find anything else similar in the series.
>>717954325for me it's VII, IX, and Tactics
Individual numbered titles are not related at all. They're not even on the same planets or in the same universes. The basics of life and death itself vary between the titles (sometimes your spirit goes into a river within the planet in one FF, sometimes it goes to some form of heaven in another FF). Sometimes summons require a highly trained, chosen one summoner to call forth, other times any retard can find an item and summon the same monsters.
Some things are similar. As mentioned above, a lot of summons reoccur in FF games. There are magical creatures called moogles in most games. Most people ride giant birds instead of horses. A lot of common enemies re-appear.
But you just need to choose one that looks the most interesting and isn't universally considered shit. I haven't played 4, but a lot of people consider that a good start. 6, 7, 9, and 10 are ones I consider worth playing. 11 and 14 are MMORPGs.
MMO shit really poisoned the well for this series, XI and XIV should have been spin offs
Now the brand is synonymous with trannies who hang around in chat rooms trying to meet kids
Even if you're the biggest "I must play from the start" fag, you just have to put that aside for FF. Most FF fans have not played FF1 at all.
>>717954007 (OP)IV
V
VI
VII
VIIIschizo
IX
X
XII
XIV
VII Remake
VII Rebirth
Tactics
Strangers of Paradise
Which are the "like 4" people talk about?
>>717954007 (OP)What a weird collage, where's X-2? The XII sequels? Crisis Core is there, but not Dirge of Cerberus?
>>717954829The FF1/2/4/5/6 remakes must be some of the most emulated games on the GBA after Pokemon
Though zoomers probably didn't emulate GBA games on the scale that millennials did
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are barely discussed because they never got proper stateside releases in their 90s heyday.
6, 7, 8, 9, 10 did. These are the core of the franchise that established Squaresoft as the king of RPGs.
But then a little thing called Spirits Within happened, Square merged with Enix, and the original playerbase who loved 6-10 didn't come along after that (these diehards all grew up and aged out of the target audience). This is why you'll have grognards like me talking about these game to this day, while 11-16 have zero discussion going on except for 14's insular MMO playerbase - lack of diehards.
Squeenix failed to properly innovate or cater to modern gamers in its mainline series, and FF as a franchise began circling the drain. Compare this series to the rise of other big hitters like Persona or Souls for how to maintain a successful franchise. Squeenix just keeps bungling game after game without any sense of what's going wrong.
>>717955724>4 never got a proper stateside releaseWhat the fuck are you talking about? You're an idiot
