The Switch 1 has such a large install base that I assume Nintendo is now trying to blur the lines between their console generations to still milk poorer switch 1 users for games, and also get in early on the foundation for switch 2.
I too think there should be more games though, but I could say that about every console launch for the last 15 years.

I don't see how this is some sort of revelation. You don't drop your previous successful console the moment the successor comes out. It's completely normal.
They didn't drop DS when 3DS came out.
They didn't drop 3DS when Switch came out.
It's not like they're dedicating a ton of resources to Switch, either. It's getting Prime 4 that was promised since 2017, Pokemon Legends Z-A that was announced over a year ago and the only 2026 games are Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Life.
This isn't a PS5 situation where they were telling from rooftops "We believe in generations!" when MS announced Xbox Series won't have exclusives on launch only to do an 180 and make GoW Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West that were announced as PS5 exclusives also come to PS4 (btw those were PS4 games that were moved to PS5, same situation as MK World and Bananza)
