Does anyone play games on their mobile phone? I've never bothered, but this thing makes me feel like I should.

I've tried a little but touch screen controls are shit and I've started wondering if it's worth getting one of those controllers

It's great for emulation. If you have a phone with a decent CPU you can emulate anything up to the Wii flawlessly. Since I got this cheap chink controller, emulating on PC feels very soulless and uncomfortable in comparison. If you have one of the latest Snapdragons you can even run plenty of Switch games. I guess you can also use it for mobile games that support it, but a lot of games don't bother supporting physical controllers properly

Shit, maybe I will try it then. I'll need to check out if my phone is alright or not.

>touch controls are shit for most types of games
>wireless phone controllers have a shockingly high latency unless you buy something super premium
>wired phone controllers put stress on the controller's USB plug over time, and stresses your phone's port too
>phone controllers take up a bunch of space in your pockets/bag, and are often a bit fragile without a phone to give it some "backbone" (haha)
>the phone controller market is also flooded with garbage
>some phones legit can't use phone controllers at all due to size, shape, or whatever case your phone has (my phone's WAY too big for literally all options, for example)
>heavy gaming runs the risk of making your battery die too quick when you might need your phone on the go and might not have access to a charger

I used to be into phone controllers, but eventually switched to chinkhelds once those stopped being complete junk 500-in-1 famiclones.
Might slap a GB/GBC emulator on my phone at some point though since touch controls for something slow / turn-based like Dragon Warrior 3 or Pokemon wouldn't be a problem.

the screen is too small to stream most PC games comfortably so I got an ROG Ally but its a viable way to play emulators or even stream games.

Stream games?

If you're on Android, a modern phone from the last 4-5 years should be able to play almost everything from Atari to PS2, and stream PC games if your network is fast enough. I've had a Shaks and Gamsir stretchy controller for my phones and it's fucking awesome, haven't had any issues with lag or connectivity
Synced saves with my PC so I can play Burnout or Tony Hawk on my PC and pick it back up on my phone, with RetroAchievements to track your progress if you care about that
You can set up a frontend like Daijisho, Dig, or Beacon to see all your shit nicely in one place in a controller friendly UI
It's pretty tits

Streaming games from the internet or from your pc to a handheld. If you mostly play at home and just want to relax in a couch or curl up in bed it's a good option. I got a refurbed G Cloud specifically for that purpose for around $180. It's been great. Light , ergonomic, and excellent battery life since my 4090 is doing all the actual rendering work and beaming it to the handheld. Very low latency with my router directly wired to my pc. I have no idea how good internet streaming is nowadays.

I use tablets because calls would interrupt me.

I use syncthing, just set up pairs for your emulators and point them to the save folder on each device, ezpz background save syncing

>got a controller holdy thingy
>start gamepass stream
>looks like shit
>never use again.
I know you can emulate, but I have been emulating since the early 00's. I get it

Gamepass streams like shit
The only decent streaming experience I've had is Moonlight + Sunlight, which works perfect on the same network and decently (still better than gamepass or steam) over internet

I bought a razor kinshi a few years ago because I was hospitalised for 2 month. The buttons suck compared to actual console controllers. It was kinda disappointing

Should've gone for the 8bit do. They use Xbox buttons.

Game Pass is tolerable depending on your ISP and your wifi, still managed to play and beat the entire story of Dead Island 2 with my dad over the internet, despite the parry windows being kinda fucked and my dad's shit headset echoing like hell and causing the game's audio to get weird in a way I've never heard audio get weird before in my 30+ years of life.
