Most confidant skills are fucking worthless. The only good ones are as follows.

>Insta-Kill
>Sojiro's curry/Haru's tomatoes (1st playthrough only)
>Takemi level 7 (Until you get fusion alarm and only on a 1st playthrough; Shiny Belt R negates SP Adhesive for early game SP restoration)
>Yoshida's money skill (only for High Pixies in Kaneshiro's palace)

>Chihaya in general
>Yusukue's card creation

That's it. Everything else is useless and that's especially true in P5R where nothing was really re-balanced so Insta-Kill turns the entire game into a joke because getting overleveled and tons of money by/after Futaba's palace is way too easy. Nobody bitches about how useless Hifumi's skills are as a reason for her being bad despite the fact there is literally never a situation in the game where you should have to either escape or waste a turn swappig out a party member unless you are really, really, really bad at the game which should be impossible unless your IQ is like 25.

My point is more that the "bad SL skills" argument is bunk because most of the skills aren't that good. If Kawakami didn't have the massage her usefulness would be at best questionable and Takemi's are damn near worthless yet their popularity isn't affected. Meanwhile Chihaya has inarguably the best SL skills in te game between Fate, Money and Celestial readings yet her popularity is low.

It's because the environment means people are too scared to just admit that Kawakami and Takemi make them horny because Kawakami has the forbidden fruit/taboo nature of a student/teacher romance while Takemi just looks like a fetish/goth chick. Meanwhile, Ohya's and Chihaya's designs aren't as sexually appealing (which I think is dumb, I like Ohya's short haired casual look a lot more than Takemi's overdone crap) so they don't like them as much. But saying that means some faggot on Reddit or Xitter or Bluesky or Tumblr raking you over the coals so you have to come up with retarded excuses.

Samefagging but with designs, everything about Kawakami's screams "depressed overworked woman who just needs (You) to make her feel better". Ohya and Chihaya just look, relatively speaking, more normal and put together. I think that's why people insist that once concept Ohya art is better (even though I think it's dumb): she looks way more weary and thus more in need of someone (the player) to save them. If they made Chihaya a sexy genie girl fortune teller or something and changed nothing about her, her popularity would probably shoot up too.
