Every time PS2 gets brought up, it’s the same "GOAT console" cope from boomers who haven’t touched the games in 20 years. I went back and played a bunch recently and holy shit, they aged like complete ass. Controls feel like moving a tank through mud, cameras fight you more than the enemies, graphics are a blurry mess of jagged edges, and half the classics are just tech demos pretending to be games.
Y’all only defend PS2 because you grew up with it and your brain got fried by nostalgia. Objectively, there’s nothing here that hasn’t been done better since. Modern indies are smoother, modern AAA actually works, and yet boomers cling to PS2 like it’s some golden era. It wasn’t. It was a pile of half-baked experiments that only look "good" when you’re squinting through rose-tinted glasses.
Unironically, if PS2 came out today, it’d be laughed off the stage.
