Gnomes are literally and unironically real. They are likely some kind of demonic trickster creatures. Hard to tell for sure.
Fairies are real. Not really sure what they are but you can feel them for real if you stay in the woods long enough.
Skinwalkers are real and dangerous. If you smell roses and a metalic smell, and all the bugs stop making noises all at once in the woods, make a fire as quickly as possible and say "I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE" and "IT'S OKAY FOR ME TO BE HERE". They don't like being stood up to.
It is possible to 'slip' out of existence when you are in the woods, far from civilization. I suspect that there are moving pockets of weak dementional barriers that people can fall through. Sometimes people are able to cross over and then return. You'll hear stories about such cases where people report going somewhere and everything is very still and there is a specific color cast or smell to everything, like they are in another time or place, before they snap out of it back to reality. This might be what happens to some people featured on missing 411, but impossible to tell for sure.
