What fixed it was the last two seasons, not that DLC. There's finally good pacing on the leveling (not too slow, not too fast). There's quite a bit of variety for builds between the classes.
But I don't think the game is fun to play longer than a couple weeks, and definitely not worth coming back to every season, maybe every other. Only thing D4 has interesting on the horizon is they leaked the Paladin class and are claiming even more "massive changes" in the itemization/aspect of the game.

The expansion was fun but I uninstalled when they stopped giving a shit about doing silly crap during the seasons. Now I just play Grim Dawn and Last Epoch for my casual clickers. I enjoyed the "Hey start this game up every 3-4 months and play a few weeks and set it aside" thing they had going from later D3 to D4 but I only ever played solo, and joining the guild from here was fine but eh
