I almost never finished video games as a kid because I was just happy to be playing them, I would just fuck around doing stuff with no real care to "beat" them. I don't know if I was retarded or just easy to please

...I can't think of any others? I dropped Skies of Arcadia when I played it before school one day and did a whole dungeon without saving, and never wanted to go through it again. Some underwater palace with lizard people? I kicked myself after for not thinking to backtrack to the entrance and save so I at least could've kept my levels. And shit, I doubt my dad would've cared if I just left the system on.

The FFVII guide my friend had misprinted where to get the Final Attack materia, claiming it was a random prize for Chocobo racing when it's actually a tiered prize from the battle coliseum (it's Counter Attack materia you get from chocobo racing). We were convinced it was THE trick to beating Ruby Weapon when we read about how it works.

Oh, fuck, I forgot Pokemon. Add Blue and Gold to that. And Secret of Mana if action RPGs count. Never did beat SD3 or Legend. Or Kingdom Hearts for that matter, but I did go back to that one and beat it as an adult.

I played and finished BOF4 on emulator, months after not-finishing FF8. FF8 just devolved into this droning borefest, BOF4 maintained its tension and pace until the end. Lunar 2 Eternal Blue also kept is plot and love story through to the end. So, some were worth it, many are not.

Nigger I got to Luca Blight in Suikoden 2 as a 6 year old. That's like 66% of the game. I couldn't beat him though, he was too strong. I tried a lot of times.

On the contrary, when I was a kid was the ONLY time I finished all those JRPGs.
Because as an adult, I'm too tired and have less time to fully complete them, so I don't.

In my defence I was playing in japanese text and cant read much nipple speak

I was 10 when FFVII came out, and before that there was Super Mario RPG. It was pretty much the perfect time to get into the genre due to how many entry-level games there were at the time, and how many good JRPGs followed. Although yeah, I tried Phantasy Star II and IV before that thanks to Sega Channel and didn't get very far at all.
