There’s only two parts that were actually cut. The rest are minor text changes, which I could only two of personally, but there’s probably more. It’s at least incredibly obvious when a scene cuts. One is a lengthy one in the Crying Sky route where they chopped off about 20 minutes. The other is in Kozue’s route, where they cut a couple minutes out of a really brutal murder scene.
I’d recommend just reading the official one. Or sampling both on youtube first if you’re still unsure.

The official one is better but still not great. Its biggest sins are being rushed, and using the censored version that’s been the base for all the ports of the game for a while now in Japan. It’s very straightforward, and mainly suffers from editing issues. You fell for an astroturfing campaign by Redditors when you downloaded the patch.
Now there are a couple bugs left in the official version even after Spike Chunsoft patched it. The main problem is that all of the management in charge of these platforms view otaku-oriented games as "damaging to their brand". The original version of Chaos;Head has been superceded by Chaos;Head Noah and there's really no reason to read the original any more. I remember the original translation being pretty janky too, like you couldn't save in chapter 7 or something or it'd corrupt your save.

I don't think any translation of Noah keeps the 1337 speak in, but the CoZ version has Takumi speak more like he's in 2009 than he would do in the official version. I don't like the official version because of the lack of consistency between SciAdv entries. With a series as connected as SciAdv, every line matters and having different translations for the same thing across multiple different games becomes confusing. This is why one team should have handled the entire series instead of being passed around. Not to mention the official version uses the tips function as a translation notes section instead of an in-game encyclopedia.

People will hate the CoZ patch in this thread for various reasons but I felt it flowed a lot better than the official which felt very stilted at times and clearly needed more time/another editing pass. Also, no CGs are translated.

Objectively CoZ's is superior in every way if they weren't injecting leftist political sensibilities into it. The base version feels very ESL like a machine translation and doesn't use the terminology from previous games, and is heavily censored, but doesn't have retarded woke changes.
Realistically you want somewhere in the middle, like a CoZ patch with MINOR changes to the script without full rewrites, but there isn't such a thing yet.

I think they were just following the trend of Xbox 360 being the shmup/VN console in Japan (although that trend has died down by One era and Switch replaced that role)
Mages were in shambles because of how they handled Occultic;Nine. Anime adaptation was alright, but the fact anime being the best adaptation over the game (despite it feeling like some of the plot lines hasn't been resolved) should tell you the state of the game. A;C and O;N were not supposed to be parts of SciADV. They merged them together at some stage of A;C development. It's official info from interviews. World layer simulation was enforced upon original games. All those "Who's eyes were those eyes", wall breaking jokes etc were mysteries without an answers specially designed to stimulate reader's imagination and not 30 years long foreshadowing master plan for world layer computer simulation. O;N is the culprit because they had to explain the inconsistencies with other games with "er this game is in different world layer" due to sloppy development of tying to tie the game to sci;adv later down the development, and A;C actually fixed that because O;N was a shit show.
