My Indian uncle works at Microsoft.
According to him, the folks at Microsoft care a lot about the well-being of artists, so they want them to learn how to use AI to make their work easier and more enjoyable. It has nothing to do with replacing them in the long run.
Does this matter? Microsoft isn't relevant in gaming at this point really, all they've got left in the chamber is to disappoint halo fans one last time

this might actually be beneficial in the long run.
if microsoft shoots themselves in the foot with the AI slop then it'll scare investors from the idea entirely and we'll see almost all the funding for it drop dead, just like with crypto and NFTs

like with crypto and NFTs, its going to get pretty bad before it dies.
we are currently at the "large company tries pushing it full steam ahead" stage, not long until the investors realize that their money is being burned.
but of course its also the part where its crammed into as many things as humanly possible and then some.
