I think the problem is that these "indie" game corps are not even indie and are just a corporate facade. Hence the marketing tactics we normally see with AAA devs.
True indie devs don't give a shit because it takes time for the game to get momentum.

That said, Cherry really is pushing the concept of "indie" pretty far now considering it's arguably a sizeable body corporate (at least with capital) now that it's arguably getting close to AAA. It just doesn't have the contractual tethers you normally see with AAA (they're called AAA for their credit rating if newfags don't get the term). But with that much money, you have to ask questions about whether they are really indie at this point. Surely they would have done shit to manage the tax issues better right? That's the point it becomes a AAA body corporate for me.

I don't know why Fromsoft have been considered non-AAA when they've been relying on credit ratings to float their ass for decades now.
