The base game was great. Absolutely fantastic smash clone, with an actual roster of really iconic characters and really creative and true to the source material movesets.

But jesus fucking christ the mismanagement of the game was horrendous. Not having a base roster of characters available and new characters costing 10 dollars was absolutely what killed the game, but the constant fomo sure as fuck did not help.

just want a good Hanna-Barbera game in the modern day. They have a shitty time enough trying to get movies out.

MVS was a terrible platfighter. Who are you fooling. The movement, animations, system mechanics, it did nothing well and brought very little to the table.

>make most of your money from cosmetic mtx
>lock characters away from players
what is this strategy called?

I liked the idea, and am glad that they preserved it for offline play. But I just wish there was a legit Smash clone for competition's sake. Smash needs it's Tekken allegory to it's Street Fighter

This is what I get for trying to support a smash clone on pc. I will absolutely give the next one money as well, I need a smash option on my computer. I'm not interested in playing melee!

Live Service clearly.
It was just done in typical WB fashion.

warning: you will get your ass beat until you learn how to play the game. ranked will try to match you with people your skill level, while casual will match you with a much wider range of MMRs. case in point, as a lowly platshitter i once got my skull caved in by the winner of Evo.

singleplayer content is usually a good way to familiarize yourself with the game, but the only stuff available right now is arcade, versus, and some training minigames.

I'm pretty used to getting my shit kicked in to learn games. Not evo level shit kicked in, but humbling experiences until I decide to start labbing. Now to rope some friends in.

game kinda blows but it has my goat in it so

The base game was kinda fun mindlessly. It felt good to move in, there were some fun character concepts. I think most people weren't really interested in it competitively and as a fighting game it was still too sweaty for casuals so it just hit the "I want to sweat casually" crowd which is always going to be small and niche.

The relaunch was abysmal. Felt awful to play after the original version.

I know this is a tired topic with SKG now, but it's amazing to me that a game can launch, have a bunch of people playing it, then just dip out of existence. I wasn't even aware of Multiversus until youtube served me some videos about it earlier this year and I thought I'd try it out, to then find it's completely unavailable anywhere. Like shit, PS All Stars Battle Royale flopped but if I really want to I can find an old copy to play on a PS3 or download it on emulator. As far as I'm aware this seems to be totally unplayable everywhere, when just a few months ago people were still actively playing it

I had more fun playing LeBron James and Marvin the Martian in this game than I did any character in Smash combined.

It's because when games EoS they get delisted. Even though it has an offline mode it's only available to people who previously downloaded it. The reason you can still buy ASBR is because it was a retail release with a physical copy and if it wasn't then it would have died when Sony was going to pull their PS3 store plug a year or two back.

Yes I understand the details of the situation, I'm just saying it's very strange to me that not only it can happen but it's pretty much common practice

That's just the reality of digital games and digital media, why it's a bad thing outside of piracy, and why physical should always be pushed for and preserved. Anything can be taken down at any moment, only people who previously paid for/downloaded it can access it, you're subject to the company upkeeping its servers, the content you do get can be changed at random (GTA games losing their songs for example), and games can be delisted even though they're still available physically due to licensing.

Digital is just a terrible medium when you're not pirating something.

>Release game
>People like it
>Dev's go "WELL WE'RE GONNA TAKE DOWN SERVERS AND WORK ON IT MORE THEN LET YOU PLAY IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR"
>It never recovers from that

I mean let's not confuse this fucker with a normal beta. Like Battlefield 6 letting people play the game a few months before release. These idiots let everyone get their fill and then forget about it. Absolutely retarded thinking.

Digital media =/= live service
Do you think Valeve could take Half Life 2 out of circulation if they wanted to?

Yes? They're the only storefront that sells it and all physical copies only work on their storefront outside of the console ones. Piracy is a completely different discussion and one I said was what makes digital media good as it's only subject to someone still around to provide a seeded/downloadable copy.

GAAS has ruined every multiplayer game that isn't purely stream bait.
I can't support a game that releases all of its shit piecemeal, and ends up costing way more than a traditional game just to get all the content.

That's piracy which isn't what we're talking about. I already said piracy is a completely valid method of digital distribution.
