No, it's not even a contender for it. They fucked around for 6 years and Hollow Knight is still the better game. I dunno if they wasted their time or just struggled to recreate the magic of HK but everything just feels worse.

Probably not because Clair Obscur Expedition 33 happens to use Unreal Engine, a sponsor of the Summer Games Fest. Even if Silksong enters the top contenders for VGAs it will lose by technicality because Team Cherry don't have Tim Sweeney's blessing. I hope that clears things up. It's a rigged result no matter what. I have no investment who wins by the way. But after seeing blatantly obvious advertised content by Epic Games throughout the Summer Games Fest i know the answer. It's gonna have to take a lot of people saying why Silksong has beat that game game, people being very vocal about it and just maybe Sandfall Interactive will have a harder time trying to get the victory.

Cleared first shop, benches, stations, maps, the toll shop and part of the forge shop in 9-10hrs playtime no farming, only lost 300 rosaries. There's rosaries hidden everywhere and enemies drop 5-15 of them each.

Nah, the game is much shorter and easier than the hollow knight. I killed the final boss in like 7 tries and i didnt even fully upgrade my weapon and barely completed any sidequest.

E33 is a unique IP, made by a small team, that revived an entire genre
SS is a sequel made by millionaires

>fetch quests like finding 8 bells or find 6 gay flowers
>forced farming mechanic to bead rosaries because benches, fast travel and even doors are pay to use
>crests less of an open system than notches and tied to movesets when your moveset for no good reason
>up+rb is a terrible button config for tools and it cannot be rebound in game
>less masks and upgrades and rewards than HK and the nail upgrade doesn't even let you 1 shot the first zone enemies
>most damage you take will be contact damage for 2 masks not being hit by attacks
>way too many flying enemies that waste your time by throwing shit and flying away

I could go on but the design is poor, it's a case of in HK they copied what worked in other games but in Silksong TC have made their own choices and it turns out their design chops are lacking

Probably player game of the year. I think the journous won't vote for it due to it filtering them hard, which again proves that since most of those scum made it through e33 it was not hard at all.
We'll see, I don't think there's anything on the horizon besides sony's new ubislop ghost of yotei that really stands out of releases but I could be wrong. Consider that snoy bought last years goty for astroslop though and you know how it likely goes.

I couldn't give less of a shit about Silksong or E33 because I'm not a zoomer with FOMO. My nomination would be Abiotic Factor because it's the only game to come out this year that actually interested me AND was good enough for me to spend over 100 hours playing.
