Sorry bro, I don't have as much time as I used to when I was young, if I die and lose a lot of progress I'm probably gonna get off for the day, at least if I save I won't care as much if I have to redo a small amount.
Developers should just add a counter for how many times you've saved. It doesn't do anything. It doesn't affect anything. There's no end screen for stats that includes it. It's just to make someone conscious about how much they're saving.
Quick saving should only be an option on Easy.
Normal should be checkpoints only
Hard should be no saving at all >but open world / metroidvania sloppa
I don't play trash.

It'd be for games with quicksaves since quicksaves trivializing difficulty is a pretty valid argument. I don't think anyone really cares about how much you save in other games besides emulated game with save states.

DMC1 did this and it made me really self conscious and almost never save. Sometimes I would die and lose 3+ missions worth of progress. At least it's a pretty short game

Ideally a speedrun wouldn't be using any of them, wouldn't it? It's just for recovering and using one would certainly mean you're now behind.

There's a reason why speedruns are typically performed live. There have been instances of people playing a pre recorded video on stream pretending they're playing it live, but they're almost always called out and ousted from the community. if you're not playing it live, there's genuinely no reason to assume they're legitimate.

The fun part is quickloading will often make it worse due to the a.i effectively pinging the area upon load and finding you when previously they may have not as they were active before you entered the area and thus subject to the normal a.i awareness limitations.
kind of funny how pc gamers even back then would clown and call console gamers kids or whatever when 99% of pc games are designed with save states in mind

What? Speedruns are mostly performed live on stream nowadays, not live in person. Speedrun events only represent a small fraction of speedruns, let alone actual record breaking ones. No one's traveling to someone's fucking basement to watch them beat a WR.

I miss when speedruns were just people who were really good at the game and played it as a score or time attack. The roots of speedrunning are "I got good" but these days it is far too much "I abused dodgy collision to clip through a wall lmao cya!".
That is why AAA is my hero. He has all the best scores, best times and has never been beaten.
