What are the best racing games on PC to play with a wheel?
I tried Forza Horizon 4 and it felt like shit, Assetto Corsa and BeamNG are fun but lack substance since there's no real progress.

if you value content more than hardcore simautism accuracy, emulate GT4 with spec II
playing that game with a wheel completely transforms the experience if you've only ever played it with a controller

The first games you should play with a new wheel are project cars 2 and dirt rally 1 or 2 since they are actual games, not just autistic toy boxes.

DIRT series...that's about it i guess. You play sims with a wheel and everything else with controller/keyboard. You would think arcade racers would be good with it too but ironically it's worse then playing with a keyboard.

Lol dude there's no progress of career in serious games.

Go play forza motorsports 7 it's decent with the right settings.

american truck simulator - decent business simulation where you start out doing contract work, then buy your own truck and unlock cities/jobs, then hire workers to run other trucks
the F1 games have a good career mode starting with 19 i think
you run your own team and make choices like hiring/building team buildings and race-to-race research parts
you don't really need to get the latest year as they don't really change much

iracing if you want serious hardcore skill based multiplayer racing

Why is it that all these videos of rally driver guests playing RBR for the first time and they rank them low in realism, yet internet armchair experts say it is the most realistic?

because there are consessions made to make it a good game
100% autistic realism at the cost of a fun game is not what people want

Sims don't have a career mode they're pure racing. Nothing else.

actually I just looked and it appears EA has gone on a tear and unlisted all the previous F1 games from storefronts

I would say F1 23 was probably the sweet spot in terms of features/car dynamics but you would have to really hunt to find it for sale anywhere weirdly
maybe if you have gamepass/ea subscription bullshit it's included there, otherwise you are stuck with getting whatever the newest year is

all said, F1 is probably what you are looking for in terms of a career mode with progression

But the featured rally drivers trying out RBR are not there to evaluate the funness of the RBR as a game, they're straight up saying this is not how it should drive in real life ie unrealistic

streetracer faggots are the worst type of speed junkies, streets are boring straight lines, and like 90% of those stupid niggers that like to skip lanes will die because they can't even correct the tiniest oversteer

cause there's no alternative
dirt rally is simcade
WRC is simcade
beamng is the only game that can dethrone it

iRacing is the best. Actual races against actual people in real cars on real tracks. Get good enough and you'll find yourself in races with professional drivers. Prepare to be raped by their pricing model.

The rally driver said between RBR, Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC, the latter drove the most authentic. Which is why I'm highly suspect of armchair experts

I just don't understand why most racing games have a barebones singleplayer experience compared to GT4.
It wouldn't even be that hard for modern devs to copy what Polyphony did back then yet we barely see racing games with good career modes.
