I kinda agree with you
people endlessly criticize it, but I really enjoyed the cover shooter sections in Manhunt. The sound design and feedback when using guns is something barely any game can reach. Guns are loud and extremely deadly in both the player's hands and in the hands of NPCs. once you start getting automatic weapons, encounters can end in seconds with someone getting turned into swiss cheese. shit was incredible. but yeah, that game was way greater than the sum of its parts. the stealth was braindead, the shooting was clunky, but combined with the atmosphere and OST and everything else... shit was giga kino.
