Yeah, it is. I bought my n3dsxl in 2015 after having owned an original model since launch and I still play it almost daily. Putzed around in new leaf and played kirby's dream land 2 today.

Had my purple O3DS for over a decade. The L button is wonky, the battery doesn't last as long and my NANDs are fucked, but I still love it anyway.

Its garbage.

The 3D function is stupid and nobody ever used it. The hinges always break, any resolution above the normal original 3DS screen is way too big for the quality and resolution. 2DS is better in every way despite being cheaper.

The screen is terrible. They cheaped out and didnt put IPS panels in the new 3ds which is stupid.
Even with the cheaper 2DS (which is the best one btw) they could've defaulted to standard IPS brighter more saturated one on the top screen always and TN on the bottom but no, they are just sooo fucking greedy.

Its too powerful to emulate on anything other than your home gaming PC for no good reason.

The japs are just nepotistic old boomers in suits trying to grasp on whatever power they have left with bing bing wahoo, thats all.

It's essentially a dead console to play the games on anything that's not your home PC.

I FUCKING HATE YOU ALL. I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY A NEW 2DS FOR $200 CAD IN 2017 AND I DIDN'T TAKE IT BECAUSE I ASSUMED THE PRICE WOULD BE THAT LOW FOREVER. NOW MY CURRENT NEW XL MODEL FROM 2013 IS FALLING TO PIECES AND A NEW ONE WILL LITERALLY COST ME UPWARDS OF $550. I replaced the battery on mine but the paint on the front of my New 3DS XL is kinda rubbing off (I guess it's a thing with the black models?), my C stick is sticky the plastic feels like it's tearing off (it was always shit though with the down direction not working well), and my L and R are a little funky. I wish 3DS emulation would be in a good spot so you wouldn't have to pay used scalpers

Just got an aqua blue old 3ds in great condition for $70 yesterday. It's so rare to get find one that's not scratched to hell and back that doesn't have a ridiculous price tag.
Saw the 3d effect for the first time in my life and it absolutely blew my mind, I can't believe I have gone this long without experiencing it. The thing is also light and comfy as fuck compared to my switch. I am about to play smt iv in 3d on my couch, I'm hype as fuck, this thing feels so much better than emulators it's unreal.

Why doesn't Nintendo just make new 3DS's?
