I think the biggest influence BOTW can have on the industry is instead popularizing game design where the end is always available, and you're instead just let loose to do however much of the game you want in order to bulk up for the end (or just go on an adventure). Not all that revolutionary, as they cite games like The Elder Scrolls as their inspiration, and the only real big switch-up from that there's no main questline gating the final encounter, but it's a change nonetheless.
Although, the only other game that immediately comes to mind like that is Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and it's a bit of stretch to draw that comparison.
