I want to get good at 2D fighting games before Marvel Tokon and 2XKO come out, if possible.

I have a Switch Lite, a PS5, and zero experience with both fighting games and women.

What’s an easy fighting game to learn with and what controller should I practice with?

Aren't those games built for complete scrubs like you that have never played a fighting game before?

Marvel Tokon is going to be, by far, the most played Arcsys title of all time.

>What’s an easy fighting game to learn
Granblue Versus Rising
It has easy inputs similar to Tokon and a free demo version.
But honestly, just hop on the 2XKO beta and learn there. You'll have a ton of Youtube content and guides on release. Beta opens very soon.
>what controller should I practice with
Whatever you feel comfortable with but try to stick to it when you learn. Note that using non-licensed controllers (like cheap sticks, leverless, keyboard, etc.…) on PS4/PS5 often require additional accessories.

>controller
You can play with any controller but for 2D games I always recommend an arcade stick (takes some time to get used to but rewarding) or a hitbox (easier to get into, recommended for precise inputs). Why not a gamepad? You'll destroy your dpad after like 50 hours of intense gameplay trying to do your shoryukens.

Granblue Rising is really easy. Can hit masters from scratch in a month if you put in some time

>and what controller should I practice with?
Virtually all modern games are designed around pad so feel free to use that if it's comfortable. Some people swear on sticks, others (like me) go leverless. Some people even play on keyboard which is totally valid - leverless is just a keyboard with less buttons

>and zero experience with ... women
Don't play fighting games!!!

Ultimately the best one is the one you have the most fun in, because you'll look forward to playing and also improving
I wouldn't recommend any of the less played fgs like Uni2, BBCF or +R because it's hard to find beginners in them
I'd try either GBVSR, Strive or SF6

>Granblue
Same team as Tokon, shares a bunch of stuff (one button specials/supers, triple attack seems similar to Tokon's autocombos)
Super quick to check characters out as a result
Very neutral/footsies focused, simple to pick up, not too heavy on the bullshit
Also has a free version with few characters on rotation if you want to try it out
>Strive
Simple to pick up as well, characters share button gatlings so fundamental skills carry over between most characters (eg. 5P>6P is always a combo, 2K>2D is almost always a combo and so on)
Characters range from pure footsies and fundamentals to being really degenerate, so it can make you a good player or just a one trick pony depending on who you pick
Ranked mode is good, you get matches fast and you get matched around your skill level
>SF6
Probably the best ranked mode plus a shit ton of players
Gameplay is simple and footsies based, which should teach fundamentals, although you have degenerate system mechanics
Characters have a ton of small nuances/details in their combo routing/punishes
Modern tries to solve this by adding auto-combos, but it also makes the game more awkward because you will be missing certain attacks that are required for certain combos
Has a lot of beginner crutches and gimmicky playstyles that will fall off once you start climbing

>what controller should I practice with?
Anything you find comfortable, provided it's compatible with consoles if you wanna go to locals. Tons of people use the PS5 controller
I just use my keyboard because I like it and it's not an extra peripheral I had to shell out money for, and I only play online

Granblue versus has a free version with rotating characters so you could try that. It is also kind of similar to how tokon will play so that is another plus.

bro just grind those games instead, for all we know those games have different timings and windows for combos, like some games let you que up moves like guilty gear and others dont. Dont bother yourself with training for a game that isnt out yet. Just play it on release to get good

No, they're games made by industry fags and "pro fighting gamers" who bloat the game with a ton of stupid mechanics that are a nightmare for the newcomer/casual to get into.

grind it out in GGAC+R on PC. you will be unstoppable if you play it for a month.
>what controller should I practice with?
you can literally use anything. controller, arcade stick, keyboard etc.

GBFVR (a bit dead) is very streamlined but very fun. or Strive (a bit less dead, maybe), it might seems kind of brutal for a beginner but honestly, this is GG with all the power limiters on compared to the old ones. use whatever controller you like. this are both from the same devs as Tokon so will have some influence on the design.
but honestly maybe just SF6 even though it's a bit gay, it has the most active matchmaking at all times, all skill levels.

my only advice is not to overcomplicate it. you are just throwing out hitboxes on a 2D plane and trying to do combos, whilst blocking what you opponent is trying to do. the FGC has all kinds of gaslightning shit to make it seem more complicated that it is.
people who actually get in there and just play people without being a bitch end up getting diamond/master within a couple months, whilst people who sit online throwing complicated glossaries around and 'training' against CPU are stuck in Gold/Plat, because playing against people makes their balls shrink.
