my issue is we're hitting a cap on how much power we can put in a handheld before compromising on user experience. it's just not feasible to try and make them run 1080p 120hz for new games, but that's where handheld manufacturers are trying to market themselves. as a result they're putting in the craziest shit, like ps5-tier APUs such as the strix halo in a handheld, where you get like an hour of battery life. proton is great but the issue needs to be addressed more fundamentally. steam did it right striking a balance, but it's also kinda lackluster in performance as well still. if it was arm-based and games were natively ported to arm, i think the steamdeck would probably be the ultimate balance in performance and efficiency, but that's obviously not feasible.
