LOL, it do be like that
Anonymous No.720275757 [Report] >>720275940
it's fine to do them if you are still having fun with the game

The problem is that most games do not stay fun long enough to get all of them, and if you're in the throes of doing tedious bullshit for some obscure achievement when the burnout hits you, then having spent any of the time going for those either becomes a waste due to not wanting to keep going for the rest, or forcing yourself through fucking burnout to try and get them even though you stopped having fun ages ago.

I can think of nothing more stupid than intentionally going out of my way to get an achievement.

My issue these days is that I don't replay games really. I used to more when I was younger, but as I get older, I find I'd rather play stuff I've never played than replay the same old stuff over and over. I'm also not an achievement hunter at all. Like, I actually just don't care. I play a game until I beat it or get bored with it, whichever happens first, but seeking out cheevos is never my goal. I was just suggesting an argument for why bothering with achievements might be unsatisfying regardless of what type of person you are.

He's not wrong
Switch not having achievements or trophys was incredibly refreshing after years of gaming on 360/steam/ps4

The best trophy I've ever got was doing a long wheelie in GTA IV because I was just fucking around and when I finished, I got a trophy for it.

It does kind of work on a psychological level.
Every now and again I see that I'm missing the achievement for Crash 1 Relics in the N. Sane trilogy and even though I'm fully aware that
>Relics were lazily pasted into Crash 1 and 2 and especially bad is Crash 1 levels are not AT ALL designed to be completed in one smooth run through and the bandage solution to this is a global timer for obstacles that sometimes you have to wait with no reference point before picking up the stop watch to not immediately get a sapphire (The Lab) or are just obnoxious to try to run through (Sunset Vista).
And like, the rational part of my brain is screaming
>Hey, we already know Stormy Ascent was removed from the game for not being fun
While the moron part of my brain is saying
>Gaem not done missing cheebos.
So maybe like once every couple years I fire up Crash N. Sane trilogy and get really fucking annoyed at it.

It made sense to replay games when you could finish all of their content in the span of a week.Nowadays games have shit that is timegated, server-related, completely up to randomness / RNG (eg.monster hunter size crowns) or tedious long tasks that you'd likely never even think to do as a self imposed challenge given the chance. Most of the time they aren't fun, they're just filler busywork that's way too time consuming in an era where games already take long as shit to 100% or come close to it as it is. Comparing something like MGS3 to MGSV you can really see the difference.

I've come across like two games ever that I loved so much I was looking for excuses to keep playing them and the plat dropped faster than I wanted to. In all other cases, the insipid trophy hunt just made me hate the whole thing
