Bethesda
What can they do to get back to the top?

Don't laugh at me but I've played 76 since release and every decision these days they seem to want people to abandon it.

Starfield isn't even worth talking about.

However I'm guessing they still made profits with recent titles so they won't back down.

They seemed go gain some favour back with Oblivion remaster. The next logical step is Fallout 3 doing the same right? Then ES6 otherwise they're f"d.

Starfield's a great game, you just don't get it

I'd have found it playable if they actually put effort into the locations

As far as 76 goes they just rebalanced perk cards seemingly for the better and weapon damage, and I've been enjoying catching up on a few years of missed content, but the season grind and all the dump camp bloat they added isn't my thing. Also browsing the atom shop is garbage you'd think they would make it better with how important it is for their live service junk.

They hired an EA guy to handle their "seasons" and Atomic Shop.

I'd actually buy stuff from the Atomic Shop but they literally recycle the same shit even when they have 1000s of objects already made that have been datamined for like 3 years and none of its appeared. Is really weird.

There's nothing they can do, people aren't as dumb now and standards are higher. They got lucky being partnered with Xbox and hit big on the "games for people who never played a video game before" brand. But that's a niche that never grows and the retards within it is ever dwindling.

Unless they get Jeremy Soule back they can fuck off. Starfields "ambient music" was fucking non existent. Though I'm glad he wasn't associated with that.

One of the most comfiest Skyrim things was the music playing when you roamed around.

Microsoft will cancel any games in development and combine BGS with some other dead company they've bought lol

That is odd, idk. It's also weird to me that apparently there was going to be paints for the standard backpack but that was cut, when most of the atom shop backpacks look ugly. I'll admit I bought one month of 1st for some atom shop stuff and to stock up on a bunch of ammo/meds/junk but I'll probably get bored before it is up.

Yeah they're both such dogshit they were made for each other. Maybe people will finally move on and play a real video game for once after tes6 releases and it's Stanfield 2.

Not much.

TES world building and atmosphere was built up thanks to writers and artists that no longer work for Bethesda like Kirkbride and Soul. Every game after Morrowind has just gotten progressively worse and are only salvaged by fan mods that reintroduce old concepts and flesh out the world.

Similarly, Fallout is reliant on old Lore from 1/2 and New Vegas which was made by the original devs, partly. Everything new Bethesda adds in 3/4/76, just corrode the existing world building and again are left to modders to fix and flesh out their games.

This was most damning with Starfield. The first new Bethesda RPG IP in... decades. It has possibly the worst world building, lore, setting, among all RPGs i've played. It's clear that Bethesda CAN NOT make original good original games any more and are being hard carried by the TES & Fallout IP. They are piggybacking off decades old lore that they themselves can not contribute too anymore withount watering it down.

It's a downwards spiral. The question is how low can they go before their fans abandon them completely and modders completely give up on salvaging their scraps. Or will they simply cultivate a new fanbase who have no expectations and only enjoy their new games?
