I'm playing these games side by side (1 hour each of both before I swap over) and it's remarkable how much more fun the original Hollow Knight is.

Hollow Knight is extremely unforgiving late game. Silksong isn't even hard, people didn't even see the real hard parts of Silksong and they are calling shit like Moorwing and the fucking Last judge hard.

One thing that i miss about Hollow Knight is how comfy it is. Areas such as Greenpath, City of Tears and Kingdom's Edge have such a confortable ambience that it feels blissful to explore them, which makes the more terrifying and disgusting areas like Waterways and Deepnest stand out more.

It's just a tighter experience. The content is more dense because you move slower and the map is smaller and there's less content overall so it's not stretched out. It doesn't reach the same highs as silksong does but hollow knight is more consistent because it's less difficult so progression is smoother. Hollow knight is great but silksong is just amazing once you get past the first half

But SS mogs in terms of areas visually and mechanically. 99% of HK is just some variation of blue / purple / brown / black

Outside of the sloptown runback to groal and a couple other late game bosses, silksong is much easier later in the game. The early game bosses that 3 hit you while you have no movement and gauntlets before you can just delete the adds are way harder than 90% of act 2, and some of act 3

Hollow Knight is pure dogshit for like 7 fucking hours. It's an unbearably bad game. Silksong only has a slow start for 30 minutes. None of its flaws even come close to how bad Hollow Knight's are.

Every single area in Silksong that isnt the Citadel or its surroundings are practically an unexplained nothingburger.

SS takes itself a little too seriously, like its over- engineered. But mods can fix that

You don't have to. Hollow Knight has a much simpler movement and attack system and every boss in the game was designed around that.
Let's not pretend Hollow Knight is comparable to Silksong in complexity and difficulty.
