Weird, i just gotten into the Jak & Daxter franchise last month and finished the trilogy earlier this month, good series but i understand why the sales dipped. Still looking for Jak X.
Anyway, Naughty Dog wanted to make a Jak 4 but decided not to as their concept was not Jak & Daxter, what they planned on was a more realistic reboot (Pic related) and that would have completely killed the franchise.
But Sony has announced that a movie is in the works, although how well the production is going is up in the air, might be turned into a show like Twisted Metal and Sly Cooper, although Twisted Metal got cancelled and Sly has yet to get anymore news after the movie got turned into a show.

This. They even got a Gravity Rush movie in production, although like with Twisted Metal and Sly that too might have turned into a TV show, unless the Uncharted movie convinced them otherwise.

I'm gonna be blunt, boobs did not define anything about the 2000s, Naughty Dog only added more inappropriate designs to cash in on Grand Theft Auto, the entire franchise after the first was made to cash in on GTA as well as other game that got big at that time, and the majority didn't like it, it scared people away given how the sales of the franchise dipped with over 3 million less copies sold of Jak II compared to the first game, meanwhile the more cartooney, lighthearted and family friendly Ratchet & Clank kept consistent sales numbers with its sequels beating out Jak's sequels. The Jak & Daxter franchise wouldn't manage to reach over 2 million sales again until the Daxter spin off, a game marketed more wackey & cartooney.
Even in Jak II & 3 Daxter's more perverted antics were portrayed as not good making the other characters roll their eyes, if not outright uncomfortable, and Jak even slaps him for it one time. It even got toned down in 3.
