Going back to the drawing aesthetic (without literally making Yoshi a drawing) is a step in the right direction at least. Always hated the arts and crafts look of the last games, like why did everything including the characters themselves have to be made of wool or cardboard?

I am very familiar with the developer's work since the Goemon days, and I didn't really get the (good) feel from this. But I could be wrong.

Yoshi's Story.
For whatever reason that game was hugely influential on Yoshi and his series going forward, to the point it overshadows even the original.
I never understood why when Story never matched Island in either sales or critical reception.
