the entire thing plays out like someones 12 year old self insert fanfiction they dug up and adapted and it commits the cardinal sin of trying to mitigate and retcon events and characters from the originals that people actually liked in a pathetic attempt to justify itself.

it was fucking boring. security breach was atleast somewhat interesting. Both games are pretty mediocre gameplaywise but security breach had the advantage of being something new for the series.
>>720673380 (OP) >basically zero marketing/trailers outside of like 2 weeks before release >Got rid of the unique power management/camera gameplay >Pretty by the numbers stealth gameplay and scripted chase scenes >Alot pricier than other entries- 40 bucks compared to 5-8 bucks for clickteam games >Most people haven't even played the Steel Wool era games cuz they don't have $500 vr headsets >making a prequel to a dlc of a buggy mess that was security breach >The new lore fucking sucks

I think it's hilarious that SotM basically upheaved everything we knew about established characters and shoved someone into the spotlight that was previously a tiny detail. Even if this was the plan all along, it's not good writing to go "well William actually stole all of the tech and the one who built everything was actually this guy who made trash games with googly eyes"

It was, it basically killed FNAF. >>720683506
This, Afton being a psychotic supergenius is what made his character work. Reducing him to a thief lessens how hard it all hits.

As far as I gathered, Afton/Emily designed their endo technology, stole the designs other than Freddy/Bonnie (which are now implied to be from some older source, alongside the other main mascots), and wanted M2 to improve their endos. They didn't end up acquiring M2 until the Pizzaplex.
