i hate you but you are correct. the entire point of mass effect is people in the last cycle had figured out the reaper's idiocy, but not quick enough to solve the cycle. therefore there needed to be a character who had also figured it out this cycle, just not in a satisfactory fashion.

the problem is in how in the first game, the "cycle" was an inane allegory for global warming, where FTL travel accelerated the death of the universe. but that doesn't fit with sovereign's "you can't comprehend this shit" monologue, as mass is mass and fucking with mass is pretty stupidly obviously going to accelerate the death of the universe.

Replaying the trilogy now, on the second one and doing the dlc for the first time. All the dlc is kind of a slog honestly. I don't know what it is about dlc from this era but it always felt off.
