Wasted. Sefer is such a fucking irrelevant jobber, its impossible to take him seriously as a rival to Squall. Every single time you fight him it's just the warm-up act to the actual main battles with Ultimecia and her avatars.

I'll give them leeway that if they're "playing" (emulating in HD) on their screen/monitor... chances are it isn't on the original console and they aren't viewing a CRT television. I'll bet it looks "too small, too pixelated, too blocky" and they'd whine endlessly unless they modded it on their OLED PLASMA whatever the other flatscreens are called.

Not only that, but the way Gilgamesh swoops in like "lol my turn now" is peak FF8 nonsense and I love it. Dude doesn't even get an intro, just bam-teleports Odin's corpse offscreen and starts randomly nuking bosses with Excalipoor. Pure chaos. Complaining about the logic is pointless, FF8 stopped playing by the rules the moment it introduced time compression and ghost orphanages.

Odin is NOT "YOUR GF" in FF8.
Odin is a summon that offers to help you if you defeat him in the Centra Ruins... and then, he RANDOMLY APPEARS in ANY REGULAR BATTLE and will INSTANTLY OHKO all enemies on the screen. It's EXTREMELY RARE.

So, if he appears with his regular intro when you fight the Boss Battle Seifer, the player is usually very surprised, can't tell if they're happy or disappointed about the potential fight, but then FREAKS OUT when Seifer just OHKOs him, instead. That's NEVER happened before.

Odin was, basically, always solo and completely invincible and practically omnipotent. He wasn't "your GF" that "you summoned." He was a GOD that randomly helped you, sometimes.

Then, Gilgamesh grabbed his sword and now Gilgamesh will randomly (though more frequently) appear in ANY battle, INCLUDING bosses. The downside is he'll also, randomly, use 4 different weapons with 4 different outcomes.
Furthermore, if you got this optional side-quest random-summon Odin AFTER your Seifer boss battle... you'll NEVER see Gilgamesh in FF8.

Kids genuinely don't know that about FF8. They never played it.

I was genuinely so caught off guard by this. "Wait Odin can tigger on bosses? YO!" FF8 is a wonderful game the perfect 8/10 that tried more interesting things then any 10/10.
