64 is a blurry laggy piece of shit with a god awful controller and has only like 7 games worth playing. ps1 mogs it.

Ridge Racer 64 is the best game on the N64, and is still perfectly playable today
It's also one of the few games on the entire platform that runs at an actually good framerate and doesn't look like trash

Controller setup is horrible fucking c buttons man how am I supposed to map those to my ps3 controller I use for pc emulation
Most offbrand n64 controllers you can use on pc dont even register diagonal movement on the central stick and they only register a full extension of the stick it has even less functionality then a d-pad cause with a d-pad atleast you can press 2 directions at the same time

Banjo and Zelda games are fucking peak tho so we suffer the pain (I solved the c button problem by making using one of the bottom triggers a modifier)

I remember replaying the original OoT on the original hardware and the framerate was shockingly bad.

Still amazes me that fan ports of goldeneye absolutely flopped. I remember being insanely into the idea of goldeneye source just for a movement and aiming updates alone. By the time I got to play it the thing was pretty much abandoned.

Because of Nintendo's retarded hyperfocus on cartridges and quite possibly the shittiest controller known to man. Also almost all of Nintendo's third parties jumped ship for Sony which meant the only games worth getting an N64 for were Nintendo party titles and the occasional Rareware platformer.

It didn't. You fags just want to push this narrative that it did.

in 1996 saw 4 people play GoldenEye on the n64 for the first time
I remember it felt like a fever dream, it looked and played so shit, couldn't understand why they would anyone choose that over Quake or even Doom in LAN
>small corridors
>blurry image
>shit framerate
>cartridge game
it put me off the n64 forever

meanwhile first experience with the PlayStation years after
>CTR
>Tekken 3
>cd playerr
it just made sense why some people would chose that over PC
