Yes, 9 years ago. I've been using a GTX 1060 for the last 9 years as well and literally bought a new GPU for the first time since then a few days ago. NVIDIA's 10XX series were good enough to play almost every single game released for the last 10 years except ones that needed a lot of VRAM for better textures. The only games that I couldn't run at 60+ FPS without a shit ton of optimization were WUCHANG and Dragon's Dogma 2.

But honestly, I'm tired of having to deal with mediocre settings for every game. Also, seeing what 2k/4k has to offer sounds fun.

I actually like the concept of a diorama death star. The earlier playset versions look like shit and being a sphere makes the room shapes really awkward and underutilized. And if they went with a full sphere, I'm sorry but a big gray ball just isn't interesting at all.

The problem is the price. 1000 dollars for this is ridiculous. And on top of that, the fucking thing includes over 50 stickers. Fucking stickers, they couldn't even bother printing the proper pieces for a 1k set. The 50 dollar lego star wars playsets I had as a kid 20 years ago had printed pieces for everything. Gonna be a terrific display piece when in a few years the stickers end up peeling and fading.

The ideal compromise should've been a hemisphere.

That's a big problem with a lot of nu-lego. They're basically too detailed, too clean. They don't look like lego anymore, and they're too big and detailed and impressive to ever want to disassemble them. And the heart of lego is taking the parts from various sets and using them to make something new. But we don't have that anymore. Hell, we used to have alt-builds right on the back of the box or at the end of the instruction manual. So instead everything is a giant model (but made with legos!) that might as well just be glued together afterward because it's never coming undone.

And yeah, at that point, why even bother having it made from legos? Why not just get an actual model kit for a fraction of the price?

Literally the only way you can fuck up "too badly" is if you cut something you weren't supposed to cut. You can fix paint, sanding, and whatever if you're going to do those finer touches, but nothing sucks than accidentally cutting or breaking a key piece.

I bought the UCS Jango Fett's Slave I oh sorry I meant his cottonpicking nigger catcher 9000 and while the build itself was really cool, it was pretty lame how many stickers came with it. Not a single printed piece, even for massive details on the hull. I could excuse a sticker for a few small panels or whatever like computer screens, even though these all used to be specially printed back in the day, but having whole sections of the exterior be stickers was just unwarranted.

I didn't apply a single sticker, just left the whole sheet untouched in the box. I'd rather it just be stock lego than be covered in stickers that will just end up fading/yellowing/peeling/crumbling later on.

My family was working class growing up and any Lego I was ever gifted was usually a small or medium-small set, but the value was always there and the options were plentiful. Even by the time the SW line launched there was a decent price range to be had, it never felt inaccessible. The difference in design between the two subthemes makes sense from a cynical perspective. Mario is mainly going to appeal to kids so they actually made sets that cater to them. Big characters, play features, affordable prices, etc.

Zelda, on the other hand? Zelda fanbase is a bunch of adults in their 20s and 30s who suck off the zelda franchise as god's gift to creation. It makes sense why lego limited it to big overpriced tree set, since they know zeldafags will suck it up and fork over 300 dollars just for the minifigs. And they specifically didn't release any smaller sets because then fans would've just bought the cheaper sets for the figs instead and wouldn't have bothered with the 300 dollar set.
