Why am I not supposed to like the Wii again? Same question for Wii U, DS and 3DS.

DS aside, all their libraries are fucking horrendous. A kid who grew up on those wouldn't know though (this entire board).

If you're a Fatlus the 3ds is top tier, if you aren't autistic its complete garbage

Most games tried to implement the motion controls into the game, ended up feeling gimicky for most of them, especially multi platforms

The only bad thing about the Wii is that wiimotes require AA batteries, partially remidied by rechargeable batteries existing. Wii has a solid little lineup, and if you throw in Gamecube support and native virtual console/homebrew hacking then the Wii is a top tier console

Not just wii opening the floodgates to casuals and normies
PS3 and 360 started the specfag spiral, which eventually started the moviegamefag scene
Gen 7 is directly responsible for the current state of gaming, along with corpo subscription shit millions of mouth breathers being so easily influenced by like&subscribers
DS and 3DS were at least the last handhelds worth owning because their collective vast backwards compatibility capabilities and virtual console to fill the gaps if you didn't have physical versions, before fucking nso

I attribute the Wii and DS to the reason I even kept playing games after SEGA dropped out with the Dreamcast. I jumped to GameCube which was honestly a mistake in hindsight, but I said before I specifically asked for the GameCube at the time. If they ended up going with a GameCube 2 along with Sony going with PS3 and Xbox going with the 360, I 100% wouldn't have video games as a main hobby. Wii was different and actually felt new and I liked that about it and the games on it for the most part. Not every game hit, but at least things were interesting. Same thing with Wii U although that never got a chance to show it's true potential. I do miss that era of Nintendo despite people not being as high on it.

That said, DS was always liked generally though. 3DS only really started getting some positive attention, but still, both DS and 3DS are viewed more fondly than the Wii and Wii U respectively. As for me today, I've basically just got the console gaming retirement platform (PC) and I just play on that when I have the time and older consoles I have.

""Hardcore gamers""(read spazzes like Adam Sessler) said it was le bad console and made jokes about le funny pee pee and dildos at the time.
We are never allowed to reassess the Wii and admit it actually had some pretty good games, and probably has a better library than the GC, on the whole(and a better exclusives library than the PS3 or 360). Please cease this line of questioning.

very bad third party support. A few good gems but in general is the weakest library of the 7th gen due to all of the shitware on it.

The weakest of the 7th gen is 360. It was a multiplats box, with self destructing hardware. The PS3 at least had Demon's Souls. I don't give a shit about anything that was exclusive to 360. I owned all of these systems, and a PC.

I'm upset that the Wii60 movement tricked me into buying an Xbox but at the same time my Xbox rrod'ing led to me building a PC. Everything happens for a reason.

Yeah, same. I bought the 360 first because it was cheap, and then realised I probably should have just got a PS3.
At the very least, the 360 had the good version of Bayonetta, I guess.

For me, asynchronous gaming. The potential for new genres and new takes on existing ones was huge with this. Using the gamepad as your map and inventory was a good idea but there could be so much more than that. Draw up your own playbook for sports games being on the gamepad when you call your team in for timeouts and during halftimes. An actual assistant table for games like Trauma Center to help make co-op feel more like a doctor/assistant thing. I don't know. Cool ideas that wouldn't translate well with something like this or even exist at all. Props to Ubisoft for actually trying with the backpack idea in ZombiU. Mario Maker was a great idea and honestly still felt better to make on Wii U than it did on Switch despite MM2 having slopes and the ability to basically make your own little "Super Mario World" kinds of games. I also somehow ended up as one of the only people online who didn't "get whiplash" playing Wii U and alternating between screens with the games that used it, so I never minded it.

I really like it for light gun games and some other more fringe titles like sin and punishment/trauma center second opinion. but those are all short games and the console became paperweight to me after i beat them.

I liked it but it was also the first time I didn't like Nintendo. They became very "clean" and everything they have made since the Wii has felt very streamlined. I actually see the console as the start of their decline. But it was still a good console, soft modded it almost immediately and was playing all the games I could.

This is true. Even when I was playing games at my peak, I never called myself a "gamer" or viewed it as any kind of badge. The "hardcore gamer" and "core gamer" thing always felt lame to me even at a younger age.

It was a cool console for rail shooters and running 240p emulators.
>DS
This one's typically well-liked though outside of a few tastelets.

I remember hardcore gamers sloppers telling me its shit.
Now I am playing it and its one of the most fun experiences I had in a while.
Now I see the generic slop they play as they scream they want "innovation".
They closed that door ages ago.
