When piracy removes the financial cost of games, the new currency to spend becomes the time you can spend on video games themselves. No one's going to even pirate a game if they can't be sure it'll be worth the time.

Do you think C47 and Absolution would benefit from remakes?

They were always the black sheeps of the series due to being quite flawed afterall, and much of Absolution’s plot was straight up retconned in WoA, so it’d be interesting to see what the “canon” version of the Absolution plot is.

Yes.

Start with the original Hitman: Agent 47. It's not for everyone, but some people like it. If you really can't stand it and it then just skip it to Silent Assassin where the series finally picks up and figures itself out. You get Hitman: Codename 47 explained to you in Contracts anyway so it's not big deal if you aren't a fan of the original and just want to go on to the next one.
Anonymous No.721171276 [Report]
>>721168816 (OP)
It is both somehow. the game is pretty good and fun but the character fucks up too much and the vibes don't really fit the games. it is also really hard to finish levels with the suit only without cheesing. at least this is what i remember from it.

>You get Hitman: Codename 47 explained to you in Contracts anyway
You don't though
Game starts with 47 killing Ortmeyer and there's no context for why he's doing that
Then you get the remade C47 levels later on and it doesn't mention any of the targets' connection to 47 or each other, and of course Columbia is completely missing in Contracts, and therefore so is Ochoa, one of 47's fathers

Absolution probably wouldn’t be too hard to rewrite, since most of his out of character moments come from his interactions with Victoria. Redo those, and you could keep the plot mostly the same, especially with the retcon revealing that Travis’ cell was a rogue ICA cell and the fact that the assassinations and targets are still canon.

I wish they'd get rid of it and replace it with vague visualizations of sounds and force you to look through key holes and shit like that instead of having full blown x ray vision. Also bring back people waking up and change the AI so people notice when someone disappears so you can't just leisurely stroll through the entire level with no worries. They can put these things on professional mode exclusively if they think thats too much for people to handle.

Yes, play Contracts, it's based and basically the only bad thing I can say about it is that the Byarkhov Bomb is a little railroaded and that remade version of the Lee Hong Assassination doesn't improve on the original (though it's not really worse either)
Silent Assassin is a bit more iffy, a lot more of its missions feel railroaded and even arguably its best mission (Basement Killing) gives you a bunch of ways of dealing with your target, all of which are objectively worse than one specific way, not to mention how the game makes you slowly walk around everywhere while disguised

nuHitman is good, but it's too gamey. It burns me out playing it like grinding but that isn't what I'm doing. The series really lost something moving away from linear story form. They weren't even "good" stories they just carried a video game very well, start to finish. I replay silent assassin to blood money every now and then and it feels nice.

I like most of what Jesper Kyd's done. Whether you prefer his work on C47 or Blood Money I still think the series lost a lot when they got rid of him. Same thing happened with Asscreed, I think his music really carried 1 and 2 for me back in the day. I hate that he has mostly faded into obscurity after that (though I know he's done soundtracks for vermrat and shopclick)

Blood Money and Contracts are both fantastic games. Play those, if you like them you can try out the World of Assassination games (with the hint system turned off) or Hitman 1 and 2. Just avoid Absolution entirely. It's probably going to become a meme of here to claim it was always good, but the game sucks and isn't even really a Hitman game.
