Cosmic horror is boring if all they are is "invading aliens, but big". This is no more horrific than if a normal meteor exploded the Earth. Everyone is going to be dead too fast to really appreciate what's happening.

There's a lot of them. Only a few are decent to good.

Cosmic horror doesn't just mean horror from outer space.
Humanoid aliens invading would be analogous to one country invading another.
But the existence of giant lovecraftian space being basically confirms humans are not special and most versions of god are false.
It basically confirms we're bugs on the windshield of the universe to be predated on, rather than unlucky enough for a meteor to just so happen to bonk in to us

Name some, I'd love to try them

This is really more of a comedy series than a horror series. It doesn't really have scares, just campy imagery and concepts accompanied by jokes about said concepts.

Is there any cosmic horror game that actually invokes the same feeling? I feel like the idea of visualizing something "incomprehensible" is impossible and ends up resulting in le hecking sanity meter that does nothing. Bloodborne might be the closest in theme and Eternal Darkness might be the closest in ideas, but that's all that comes to mind

This is what cosmic horror is all about. The threat can be literally anything. It COULD be something like a meteor or force of nature or plain ol aliens, but whatever the threat it, it's coming from a place of indifference towards humanity and there's nothing anyone can do to really stop it.

It's hard to make video games like this because as a player you need to feel rearded for playing by getting good at the game and having the story comes to a satisfying conclusion. You can't really have that in cosmic horror where the point is to make you feel weak and hopeless as the universe does its thing.

Cosmic horror kind of sucks because the scale of size where it would happen is too large for us to conceptually grasp.
Like damn Uranus is watching me jack off with an evil toothy grin, does it mean I don't have to work tomorrow? No? Then who cares?

I think the concept of astrophobia and especially thalassophobia are pretty scary but all these videos trying to create that feeling fall short. They become funny at how bad they portray the fear.

Why should I be more scared of being tortured to death in a basement vs peacefully dying in my sleep if the results are effectively the same?
Anonymous No.723035398 [Report]
I've had dreams of impossibly huge things in the sky or elsewhere. Like creatures the size of Godzilla or King Ghidorah or some shit just sitting in the sky. Megalophobia is at its best when its from the perspective of something very small. No one is scared at pictures of the Earth, they're scared of standing on a satellite and looking at it from the perspective of a man. That's where most 'cosmic horror' falls short. The scariest part of Bloodborne was seeing fuckhuge Amygdalas everywhere but even they weren't big enough.

Cosmic horror is cool, but 99% of cosmic horror stories just don't explain anything at all so there's nothing to them.

Because India still follows the standard of "We don't know how many of you are going to make it to adulthood so we are going to have as many as we can." then they also arrange marriages for a bunch of them so the cycle repeats.
