Portkey Games honestly did a phenomenal job with this. It's a shame I don't have a PC strong enough to experience it at full visual fidelity. The raytraced fidelity mode on console is the closest I can get, but I have a really nice "gaming" TV, granted it's not OLED, but still looks nice on raytraced fidelity mode on consoles. I feel like games like this you just have to play them on quality mode to really appreciate/experience the detail of the visuals. If you play on performance mode, you're just denying yourself the visual experience. At least they let you uncap the framerate on console, so if you have a 120hz TV then you can at least get...maybe 45-60 FPS, but it won't be consistent unfortunately. It's the downside to enabling VRR/uncapped FPS. It won't lock the game to 30 FPS, but you won't get a consistent 60 FPS either.

It's a comfy game to play, especially around this time of year.

Sometimes it's worth losing the extra 30 FPS if the game is built with visuals in mind. Hogwarts Legacy, at least to me, was one of those games. People bitch about losing FPS for RTX, but you do get a different experience with RTX turned on, at least when exploring Hogwarts, and in certain areas with RTX lighting, shadows, and reflections. You can see it in Hogsmeade, caves, certain dungeons, etc. Hogwarts primarily is a different experience if you explore it with RTX turned on.

Honestly I would say it depends on the game. I agree that some games don't make good use of RTX, so it's in the game, but it's a waste to use. There are some games that do genuinely look way better when playing them with RTX turned on.

I'm not shilling anything. I'm simply saying that the game geniunely should be played with RTX on if possible because I think it's a superior experience given the visual look of the game and how it uses/implements RTX. You don't HAVE to fucking do anything. I just think you get a better experience playing with RTX on, and certain games do present a better experience with RTX turned on, even with the loss of FPS.

I played it on a 2060 Super and it ran just fine, but I couldn't push the game to it's limits obviously. I could get 60 FPS on it with the right settings, but it would have been nice if I could have played it on max settings, RTX, quality mode, the works and still got 60 FPS.
