Is there a single game in existence where an unarmed build/playthrough is actually stronger than using guns, magic or swords?

SotN punches are pretty strong.

Pathfinder, monks are strong especially unchained monk
In the CRPGs the meta builds all dip into monk levels

Why do retarded redditors like unarmed builds so much? It's always that or summoning

BG3 monk is (perhaps intentionally) broken.

Fallout 2 unarmed/ jinxed run is hilarious when every enemy's finds just keep exploding in their hands.

you literally just posted it....
the unarmed build in Fo2 almost feels like the intended way to play with all the benefits and side quests that revolve around it

Summon builds can be fun sometimes.

probably because monk is by far the weakness least fun class in tabletop DnD 5e because they can't get magic items and a whole slew of other stuff.
which likely means the brokeness of monk in BG3 is likely a result of larian throwing monk players a bone in the form of what they always dreamed of

Why would hands be better than swords

Monks suck ass in every D&D edition so vidya adaptations often make them overpowered for fun. Because the idea of a monk is great but they're always ruined by the ruleset.

Larian is like that. I don't mean that as an insult, it's just that everything that seems "cheesy" or broken or whatever feels intentional. You can cheese several encounters in Divinity and BG3, but it never actually feels like "cheesing," like you're exploiting an overlooked mechanic or loophole, it always feels like you're doing something either the developers found but left in anyway, or intentionally put in.

Why would there be one? Guns are objectively stronger than unarmed

As a joke. Have a game full of weapons to collect and spells to cast vs naked man go punch dragons

FF7 Tifa is the most broken character although she does use a loaded glove.

To give you an example of some of the things you can do in Larian games, and why I said it was likely intentional:
>unlink your party. talk to every patrolling NPC in the area to stop them, then use a different party member to either pickpocket or kill the lone one with no one else around
>set up a Rube Goldberg machine of exploding barrels you can set off with a chain reaction to to clear a room full of enemies and the Act boss without even needing to be in the room
>kill all of a boss' summons while they're monologing by switching to the rest of the party and attacking everyone else while the boss is stuck in conversation
>kill a Vampire Lord, normally one of the toughest fights in the game, by casting sunlight on his weapon and doing literally nothing else
There's several morel examples, but most of them boil down to "unlink party, send one down as bait while the rest of the party clears the room."

What's a 4chan build
Anonymous No.723101209 [Report]
>>723098854 (OP)
it's not stronger than magic (quickhacks are preposterously strong) but it's equally viable, at least. I beat the game with a katana and sandi, felt like a god and had a great time doing it
Anonymous No.723101341 [Report]
fallout 2 is a contender. unarmed builds are maybe not stronger than a super-optimized gun build but they're close, and they're better than melee weapon builds
Anonymous No.723101412 [Report]
Why would strength matter if it's not fun? Every unarmed build in games is boring and looks worse than using cool weapons.

Should unarmed even be viable in an RPG or should it be fist weapons?
Having unarmed be viable kinda defeats the entire mechanic of weapon progression and gives you no insentive to find better weapons or upgrade your old weapons with rare materials. Not to mention if games have weapon enchantments and such mechanics.
Also play Beat Em Ups.

Unarmed builds in Fallout 3 and NV are busted if you build them properly.

Side-scrolling beat-em-ups. At best, weapons are a temporary power up that lack the utility of your default move set.

the fastest way to beat most dmc games is just spamming divekicks instead of actually using your swords/guns but you're using a dedicated armored limbs weapon so I dunno if that really counts
